I just went to a wedding in August where this was done. I had never heard of it before.

The bride’s father made the box so that was very sweet and meaningful. And he explained to all of us the significance behind it while the bride & groom and parents put the box together.

I think everyone loved it.

We’re having a private ceremony with a JP just before we leave to Mexico and I think we’ll be doing something similar to this! I like the idea a lot 🙂

I love this idea!  I’ve never seen it done at a ceremony, but since both FH and I love drinking wine, it would be more symbolic for us than a unity candle or sand pouring.  Thanks for the idea!!!

We are doing this with a twist. We will be opening it every year to read the letters and replacing them with new letters every year. I’m going to be ordering my wine box here shortly. I just want to have it.

We are doing this too!

@Miss Tattoo: Where are you ordering your box from? If you don’t mind me asking?

We did something very similar at our wedding and our guests LOVED it.  My FIL, in particular, thought it was *the* most awesome thing he’d ever seen.  It was quite a hit. We made it super special by having my (now) husband write a poem/explanation that he read aloud.  I introduced the whole idea, he read his detailed explanation poetically and I put all our items in the box while he read.  My father made the box, so it was extra special to us.

I had never heard of this before, but I must say…I’m totally enchanted by the idea of it.  Our wedding is AT a winery, so its even in keeping with the location.  We’re also big wine drinkers winos, and this is right up our alley!  Can’t wait for SO to drag his butt out of bed so I can tell him about this!  🙂  Thanks for sharing!

I love this idea. We are having our wedding outside at a winery so I wasn’t sure how a unity candle would work, especially since it is a little breezy cause it is on a bluff. My FI loves the idea too, and I am thinking of having my Grandpa make a wine box for us. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to “put the box together” during the ceremony besides nailing? I am not so good with a hammer Wink
