You don't need wine on the table... actually I don't think I've usually had wine on the table at weddings I've attended. We were always topped up & served by the servers.
If you put wine on the table your guests are more likely to fill their glasses FULL, which means it will cost you more.
I've never been to a wedding where wine was on the table. I've actually never heard of doing that.
I agree with recessionista...having it on the table means people will fill their glasses more.
ALL but 1 of the weddings that I've been to, I've been to 9, have served wine at the table. I think it's elegant and nice. I will def. do it!

i have a tight budget for my wedding reception but i do plan to provide 1hr of open bar to my wedding reception guests, so, my question is, since i have a bar already, do i need to provide bottled wine at each table?
the reason i'm asking is because some of the packages from different venues i have looked at do not include 2 bottles of wine at each table (obviously they are the less expensive packages).
please let me know your thought :)
