we wanted to do that. it just didn't work out that we had a nice big snow storm when photographer was ava. We wanted to wear summer clothes and take pics after a blizzard but just didn't happen.
Good luck, I love winter!
Try to PM Mrs. Champagne. She did a day-after shoot in the snow and might have some tips/advice!
We did our e-pics in February here in Minnesota, so it was most definitely cold and snowy. We wore our coats and stuff in a few pictures and to me, it seemed like we were just really representing our lives in the truest sense, since we do spend the majority of the year freezing our butts off, haha. We did take coats off for a few pictures - I wore a skirt with warm tights and my boots, we each wore sweaters and stuff so we could manage standing around for about 15 minutes at a time coat-less.
The tougher part was getting the light right. The snow reflecting, the limited daylight, etc.
Just get some hot cocoa afterwards! I think winter pics are beautiful!
i would love to find a couple that wants their e-sesion in winter....would be so cool, you could make a snowman (tons of great ideas for that), make snow angels, hot chocolate haha...would be a wicked e-session....
only problem is gear gets frozen, as do hands (cant photograph wearing gloves), but i would suffer it for a great session!
Winter engagements pictures sound beautiful. Is there a cozy lodge or cabin by you? You could do pics my a chimney or holding hot coco mugs. Or out in the snow! If there is no snow, somewhere forest-y? You could wear a cute scarf with a jacket. Yes, winter epics sound lovely.
Yeah I'd love to do a winter eSession.. even if my fingers fall off or my gear freeze over..
Well you can possibly do some winter shots on the farm, by the fences. And then move into more warmer locations by the windows.
Thanks for all the ideas!! I am getting more excited about it now. We got engaged on Christmas night! So, we are thinking to incorporate a Christmas tree where he proposed! :)
snow angels would be really cute if it snows or with a snowman maybe kissing it on the cheek....
oooh! scout out some great locations first, and make sure you mix them up- we did a few mountain scenes and then a river scene and then a scene kind of in the town. Find a few photos that you love and show them to your photographer... here are some ideas from a post I did a while back:

And I'll include a few shots from our day after photo session too- have fun and don't forget to share them with us when you're done!
@Mrs. Champagne- I LOVE your day after pictures! The last one especially. I feel like I missed these when you posted them.
Cole B- you didnt miss anything- I just havent posted them yet!! I broke my wrist so typing is really hard to do- the cast comes off Sept 3rd, so my recaps will continue after that!
mschampagne - Your pictures are amazing great. I love the snow in the background with you in your wedding dress. If given the chance, I would have loved to do that.
I'm going to be a winter bride and I really hope it snows. Though I know it won't cause of global warming. When was the last time it snowed in December in Philly? Not for years. Oh well...I will be prepared for any weather scenario.
we had a round of engagement photos taken in december when it was like 20 degrees out. we spent half our time outside and half inside a greenhouse at a local college. the time spent outside was fine, but it was frigid. i would suggest bringing heavy gloves to keep your fingers warm between shots.
i can pm you the link to our engagement shots if you want. just let me know!
We had to get our e-pics done in December while we were home for Christmas. We apparently picked the windiest day of the year. It was ridiculous so we ended up going inside for many of the pictures. I loved our pics though and they are in the Gallery if you want to take a look. Just be sure to bundle up! I wore a nice white winter coat and it looked great in pictures against his black jacket.
Even though I'm having a spring wedding, we had winter engagement pics. Here are a few.....
We took our winter engagement pictures last week!! I am so happy how they turned out! Here is a couple from our shoot! Thanks for all of your nice words of encouragement!
@ Miss Farmer, Love the pics! I was thinking about waiting until Spring to do our pics, but this makes me want to get a few snow shots and we have snow now too! =) Congrats on your upcoming wedding and on your awesome engagement photos!!
so this might sound a little crazy but we did our engagement pictures ourself right when it was snowing. we were both at home and it looked beautiful out with all hte snow covering the trees.you can always do that and then go get some more engagement pictures done by a professional. we just dont have room in the budget for e pics. but heres my favorite picture we did. sorry for how big it is...i tried to edit it to get it smaller..

Hi Hive. I need some help! My FI and I are trying to find a good time to do our engagment pictures. Since my FI is a farmer, Sept- Nov. is a baaaaddd time of the year! So, we were thinking about doing our pictures in Dec or Jan. Has anyone had their e-pics taking during the winter months, and if so what advice do you have?
