I'd be up for a few glasses of wine with my fellow Wisconsin brides-to-be.
Yay! :) I haven't checked this thread since I posted it, but I'm glad there's interest. Swig works for me -- any other suggestions, though?
I could do Swig (Third Ward right?). Weekends work best for me--I live in Madison. Sounds like fun!!
I'd love a meet up to discuss what it's like for other area brides. Count me in!
I know this is an older thread..but if a Wisconsin bee meet up is still in the works, count me in!
Suggested Meeting Spots (from my limited experience and memory):
Hi Hat Lounge on Brady Street
Broach off North Water (very close to Brady) - They have an upstairs room that could be perfect for a meetup like this.
Trocadero (again, close to Brady, French, and their crepes are worth a trip anyways - plus where I proposed to my fiance :D )
The Safe House - too many people have forgotten this place - and would be worth the laugh to watch folks coming in, trying to guess the password (I know my friends get a kick of watching me trying to guess)
Water Street Brewery
Milwaukee Ale House
John Hawks Pub
There are also a lot of places a little west of Milwaukee (I'm thinking 'Tosa or Waukesha). Could be a good way to try and get more folks from Madison or other areas interested in meeting up too.
i'm down...where is everyone else? maybe we should message them. hmmmm
I'm down for this too--great suggestions for locations, mainfr4me!
I'm new to WI, but I live in Madison, so it'd be hard for me to make the trip to Milwalkee with my work schedule, etc. If anything goes down in Madison or near by I'm all in....I'd love to meet more WI brides!
What would folks say to meeting in perhaps Waukesha? Not exactly half way, but closer to Mad City.
If people are thinking of Waukesha, I'd suggest:
- Neighbors Social Club (very cool, kinda jazz club look and feel)
- Generations (newer, trendy, serves great food)
- The Black Trumpet (higher end, but if there's a lot of us, they do have a conference area, and maybe twist their arm into showing some of their rooms - the place is pretty dang amazing if you've never looked!)
- Taylors Peoples Park (again, great food, good atmosphere)
Sorry I've been so MIA -- things are quite busy in our household! Anyway, I think that mainfr4me has some great ideas. Maybe if people's work schedules preclude them from coming, we can do a Milwaukee area one now and a Madison one area soon (or vice versa)? Or, maybe we can do a holiday-type gathering (perhaps with your FI?) in the near future on a weekend, rather than a night after work? That might free up some time. Let me know what you ladies think!
I'm all for a weekend meetup, but I'm not ruling out a week day evening meetup. Most places will give you a discount on room costs or other things potentially if you have a mid week event.
I live out a ways from Milwaukee, so location-wise, I'm biased towards a venue near the burbs (Waukesha, Wauwatosa), but I can very easily be arm-twisted into something in Milwaukee proper.
And if I can make it, I'll volunteer taking some photos (and if space allows - maybe some photo-booth kind of fun?)
Alright, this has gotten kinda quiet, so I'll poke the community.
I'd like to suggest a weekend meetup in mid-December (say the 12th or 13th). Very low key just get together, hang out, introduce each other type meeting. I'd say bring your fiances (I know I'll bring mine).
Lets all hang out, get to know each other, maybe have a meal as a big group. If people are feeling industrious, bring a notebook and maybe some of your ideas and such so we can share things among each other - or not and just enjoy hanging out (because we all need excuses to hang out in a group and eat food, drink tasty beverages, and so forth :D).
What do ya'll say?
Man, I wish I could be there! We're not moving to Milwaukee until June, but hopefully we'll be out there for Christmas or Spring Break. Hoepfully I'll be able to meet up with y'all too!
@Dizzy
If this goes well, maybe this could be a regular thing. I'm a member of the Cream City: Milwaukee Flickr group which meets monthly. Not that I'm saying we should/can't meet monthly, but maybe if people like it, keep it going. 4x a year? All depends on how much people want to invest.
Maybe Delafied woulld be a good place. Thats were we always meet up with FI family (they live in Waukesha and we live in MAdison)
Ahh...now I feel left out! I'm way over on the other side of WI, as in you guys look at the state as being a hand and we're taught it's an idianhead since my community isn't even able to be found on the "hand" of WI. We're the boogers in the indian's nose. Look at a map of WI and you'll see what I mean.
But if there are any Western WI ladies who wanna meet up I'm game!
I would meet up on a weekend as I am all the way in Oshkosh. Would prefer Madison as I used to live there and am familiar with it but sounds like more people are in Milwaukee and that is the same distance. December completely wouldn't work though as we are going Mall of America 1st weekend and Kalahari in WI Dells the 2nd weekend. I would make the trip though!
@mrskesslertobe
Delafield would not be a bad option - the Delafield Brewhaus comes to mind, along with Milwaukee Street Traders. I have not had a chance to check out some of the newer spots in Delafield myself (Reveres (sp?), etc), so we could have options there to meet up. It's a little closer for the folks from Mad City who might join us too.
So, this is NWR but I just find it funny that I just saw this today when last night I was talking to the FI about moving out of California to Madison! Hello Wisconsin Bees!!!

@bakingbride
Yes, you should come to Wisconsin!
Remember - happy cows don't come from California - they're really from Wisconsin :D
Yay WI, I moved here from Ohio and I absolutely love it. The people in WI are the most friendly of anywhere I have been.
I'd love to do a meet-up! But if we have a meet-up before December 18th, i'll probably not be able to attend, especially the 13th or 14th of the month, as I have papers and finals and more papers due starting December 7th and running to the 18th! Perhaps we could meet up on the evening of the 19th or 20th? :D
I live in Riverwest in Milwaukee, but I'd be willing to travel out to the burbs (which would curtail my drinking, but there is much else out there besides a good drink!). I'd need the exact address as anything much past Brookfield and I am completely, utterly lost. Last time I was driving in Waukesha I was lost for 30 minutes trying to find the courthouse (getting my FI's birth certificate)! Would this be With or Without FIs/DHs?
@rabbit
No fear - we're Wisconsinites - we can't help but get together and hang out right? :D
So, lets say, December 13th (I lean towards that because some other photographers and I are looking to have a Help Portrait Session on December 12th in Milwaukee), in Delafield.
I'll start an 'offical' thread on this with a link to an Upcoming event page. If you want to come, please please please sign up there. That way, we know numbers, and can plan accordingly with the staff of the Delafield Brewhaus. Or, if you think of a better location, please, suggest away!!
Hey Wisconsin Bees! I am planning a meet-up for May 8! Message me if you're interested. I also have a thread started. :)

Hey, WI bees! Just writing a post to gauge interest in potentially setting up a bee meet up for all of us here in WI. I know that I'm closest to Milwaukee, but is there any interest in this at all? Respond, if so! Thanks!
