I know we could all use the advice and inspiration sharing that comes from knowing more about our respective weddings, so please introduce yourself! I'm a Wisconsin native transplanted to Denver, CO, but my fiance and I are getting married at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison this coming September. Please introduce yourselves and share a bit about your wedding plans!
Great idea denverbirdlet!
Both my fiance and I are Illinois natives, but he relocated to WI when he got a job in Madison in Aug of '08 and I moved up after I graduated college last summer. We got engaged in July after 6 1/2 years of dating, but have yet to really start the planning process. (I'm going to the Madison wedding show this weekend, so hopefully we'll accomplish something there!!) We've checked out possible locations (such as the botanical gardens, which are beautiful!, and the capitol building) but we're doing this whole thing slowly...not actually getting married until next Sept.
That sounds great mrsawesome09. I hope you enjoy the wedding show. If you need any vendor recommendations through your planning, let me know! I had a pretty long engagement myself (I started the slow planning process last march ...). good luck as you keep planning!
Hi...
the man and i live and will be married in Milwaukee.
a mid june wedding (praying for beautiful weather but it is Wisconsin)
Sounds great! Fiance and I are both grad students here at UW-Madison - getting married at a barn in the beginning of September. We'll be at the wedding show this weekend as well! Should be exciting!
Hi everybody! I am originally from southwest WI and now live outside of Madison. We have 2 kids and are getting married at one of the resorts in the Dells.
I'll also be at the wedding show (Saturday afternoon). We still need to get our DJ.
We're getting married in September at the Monona Terrace (Community Terrace Room). We have nearly all our vendors, and I just put the deposit on our honeymoon yesterday! If anyone needs any recommendations, let me know! Especially about cake. We visited 4 different vendors. I have tasted more cake in 2 months than I care to admit (and will definitely be having more on Saturday!).
yay! Wisco brides coming out of the woodwork. my ceremony is supposed to be outside in Madison, so I too a, hoping for good weather. luckily, we have a back-up rain location if needed.
so everyone's going to be a the bridal show huh? we should all wear t-shirts that say im a bee on the back...ha ha ha
@msmonicka - Haha! Not a bad idea!
@denverbirdlet - yep, ours is outdoors as well...I am really, really hoping for good weather. Or at least, not-rainy. Although then I could make sure to have some cute rain boots on hand...hmm...
I'm a Wisconsin native, but FI is born and raised in Texas. We met while he was on a business trip and then I moved to Texas a little over a year ago. We'll be getting married up in Wisconsin though to be near my family. We're getting married at Old World Wisconsin in the Clausing Barn. We visited over Christmas and got most of our vendors nailed down. It's so hard planning from so far away but my Mom and MOH have been super big helps, running around and taking pictures and meeting with people for me. We'll see how it goes when I've got to start shipping all my DIY up north!
We ended up going with Carl's Cakes. Craig's was a super close second, but Carl's was less expensive (and less confusing). Craig has tons of options for your cake, which is fantastic, but a little overwhelming for me. Both were delicious.
Hi y'all! I'm originally from Texas, living in MA with my FH, who is originally from Milwaukee. I'm moving back to Texas, and he's moving back to MKE (at some point), and then I'm moving to MKE when I finish school. We're gonna get married somewhere in Milwaukee..just not sure yet. We looked at a few churches and the Masonic Center (which was AWESOME - I have tons of pictures if y'all wanna see) but as our plans have changed drastically in the last two weeks, we aren't sure when we're getting married. I jumped in head first when I originally started planning, had no help whatsoever from his family (I'll admit, they were all, "shouldn't you be doing homework?"), so now I'm just taking it slow. We're going to figure out what we want at our wedding and go from there :D
Hi everyone! My name is Erin and my FI is Greg...we live between Oshkosh and Appleton in NE Wisco. We are getting married at Apple Creek Inn, De Pere, which is just starting a $1MIL renovation, so I'm super excited to have one of the first weddings there after it's updated!
We have mostly everything reserved and set...just need to figure out the little details!
It's great to hear from all you WI brides! Our board's been pretty quiet lately.
@msmonicka...that t-shirt idea is cute! Too bad I didn't see this till tonight and the show's tomorrow. =( sounds like a great time for a meet up in Madison though!
Wow, I feel left out...I'm way over close to the MN border and I've lived on this side of the state all my life. FI and I are getting married in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area.
@ frugalista ....don't feel left out...you're still a wisco bride no matter where ya are!
FI and I live in Milwaukee. He was born and raised here while I grew up in Wisconsin Rapids (Middle O the State). We're getting married in Milwaukee at St. Benedict the Moor church downtown (9th and State) in September. Our reception is at the South Shore Park Pavilion in Bayview. We have all of our vendors lined up and STDs sent...but now FI says he's freaking about the money we're spending (almost all of it my dad's money! and our budget is only $5,000!).
to all of you who went, how was the madison wedding show?
Hey everyone! I am from Green Bay. FH is from the middle of nowhere about 1 1/2 hours north of Eau Claire. We met at a party with my sorority and his fraternity at St. Norbert College in De Pere. We currently reside in GB.
We have no idea where/when we're getting married except some time before 2020 which is good on our part since we had it to some time before we die originally (no joke).
To be perfectly honest, I don't even know where to start with this whole wedding planning thing. I could use all the help I could get. I've lived in GB, Mke, Madison, and Fondy so I'm basically open to anything. Help?
@ AXid - Where is your FI from? I ask because I've got family up that "north of eau claire" way.
@AXid - Ladysmith/Hawkins area. Its a bit east on Hwy 8
@denverbirdlet Wedding show was great! Though, it was my first big bridal show and it was a bit overwhelming. Definitely ended up being there from about 10 am to 4 pm which I hadn't planned on doing...but it was a fun day with my MOH (sister) and Mom. Crossing my fingers to hear that I won one (or a few) of the seemingly thousands of prizes I signed up for, lol. (Especially that $10,000 wedding package, that would rock!)
@denver I've been thru that area driving from my father's on the East side of the state. Beautiful area!
@AXid - oh yeah, i love northern wisco!
@mrsawesome09 - I'm glad you had fun, and good luck winning a prize!
@Denver - My wedding is in Northern WI as well! A small town called Hayward, not too far from you :)
While I'm not actually from WI, but my fiance is, and it's my wedding location, so does that make me a Wisconsin bride? I'm from New Brunswick, Canada...My FI & I met at college :)
@ mrsLintner2Be - Oh I love Hayward! Its gorgeous. And as far as I'm concerned, you can be a wisco bride if you want, since you are getting married there.
Hi everyone! A Milwaukee Bride here. Getting married @ St. Matthias(92nd and Beloit) and having our reception at the Silver Spring Country Club. Hoping for a wonderful fall day for the wedding!
Hello everyone! My fiance and I are both UW-Madison grads, and we're getting married in Madison in October. He's originally from California, so we're excited to host his fam here this fall. We also have most of our vendors, including awesome, budget-friendly
photographers. Getting so excited! It's nice to hear from some local brides...
Hey all! I am a Milwaukee bride...wedding at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist and reception at The Grain Exchange.
@MadtownBride I am a Badger alum too! When did you graduate?
@amy13 I graduated in '06 from the School of Ed. My fiancee is attending UW Law school now, so he'll actually be a "Double Badger"! When did you graduate?
Anyone getting married near central wisconsin? I live in southern wisco but am getting married where I grew up. Is anyone finding that even with a decent budget, things are still sooooo expensive? What is the average wisco wedding budget?
How about La Crosse? Anyone from around the La Crosse area? FI and I both born in Viroqua, he was raised in Tomah, I, in La Crosse.
Another Milwaukee bride here! We're having the ceremony at Zion Evangelical Lutheran in South Milwaukee, and the reception at Coast. Also hoping for great weather, because they have a fabulous outdoor patio we can use.
Anyone going to the bridal show at the Pfister Sunday? I have all my vendors secured, but I was promised champagne and cake, so I'm there.
I'm in Rochester, MN. Which is kind of close to WI! Only an hour away. I grew up in Menomonie & Eau Claire!
Hello bees! I've been reading posts for a while, but only recently did I make an account to start posting. I finally mustered up the courage to introduce myself to you all :)
My FI and I are getting married in Madison, at Luther Memorial Church with a reception at the Overture Center. It's in 3 months, so I'm getting super nervous/anxious/excited!
i love your moniker moobride. lols. yay mad-town weddings!
