I wish I had a different centre stone and I dont know where the idea came from…I now want an Oval or a round!
Dream stone was always a asscher but wayyyyyy back in the day they didnt have such a thing around me, then I upgraded for my 15th anniversary and hubby wanted me to get another princess so I did.
A couple years later and I dont like it for some reason! Maybe because I never got my dream setting I dont know! We couldnt afford the setting because of my granddaughter came into our lives full time..blessing for sure.
Has this happened to you guys….do you find yourself hating your centre stone? Did you fix it with a diff setting?
AM I CRAZY????
PS: some of you know that I have had my 2 year old granddaughter for the last year full time and had emergency guardianship well yesterday in court…..WE GOT FULL CUSTODY!! SO freaking happy!

@GelaMac: Congrats on custody!
If you can afford to upgrade and DH is ok with it, get what you want! I got a whole new set for 5 years and it is awesome!

With my original, the diamond was never the size I wanted and the setting was right in style, but not my thing refinement wise. That is what started my string of rings. But now, I have the diamond I want, and will have the setting made how I want… so it is taking time to get *exactly* what I want, but slowly I will get there. 🙂

@GelaMac: Awe what fantastic news!!!
I still have long term plans to replace my sapphire oval with a diamond oval. I know a lot of people didn’t agree with me when i did a poll a long time ago but i would really like to change my sapphire to a diamond eventually.

I always wanted round or princess. I have round now, and it’s a nice size. However, if I were to or wanted to go bigger, I’d have to go with princess. I don’t know why, but princess looks good at any size. I don’t care for huge round stones.

@GelaMac: I wish I had a different center stone! We got a CZ center stone so that I could have my forever Verragio setting- I would love to have a diamond center stone, but who knows when we will be able to do that! Right now we are concentrating on saving for the wedding! So I don’t think you are crazy 😉

If I could put in requests now, after having a princess, I would choose a round as its more sparkly. Sometimes I do wish I had a round but he knew I had wanted a princess cut prior to being engaged so thats what I got and I do love it!

I wish my stone was a bit bigger and more perfectly square. I really love the cut though

Sometimes I think my second choice for an e-ring would have been easier for daily wear- round solitaire on a plain band, as opposed to an emerald with side stones, which I have now. I am forever scratching myself (or FI), snagging tights/sweaters, etc when wearing it. (And I’m not even wearing it regularly yet.)

I suggest cocktail rings, and they can be quite reasonably priced (without being costume materials).
An oval smoky quartz? A round tourmaline? The possibilities are limitless.
It’s normal to want to try different things too, but the sentiment of the engagement ring is something very, very special in itself 🙂

Gelamac- it’s probably because it’s something you feel you have some control over. You don’t like it, so you change it. You’ve gone through a hug change in your life and as much of a blessing as having your granddaughter is, this whole debacle had/has to be stressful!
I would honestly change my whole ring if it wouldn’t break my husband’s heart. Even though we chose it together, he did purchase it himself and it’s a real point of pride for him. It’s not an expensive ring, but that’s because he was supporting me through school and on days when I don’t feel so in love with my ring, I try to remember that sacrifice. He never complained once about the burden that was on him.
Going forward now,I just don’t see a time when it will ever make sense to upgrade. I’ve asked him for a more detailed band for Christmas to stack with my wedding ring and engagement ring, just to snazz things up a bit. Maybe you could do something like that rather than change the centre stone again?

I wish I had a whole new ring! Something low-profile but still blingy. I’ve learned I just don’t like tall settings, which I didn’t know until having my ering. I originally considered a few Anniversary-style rings, as my ering but hubby (BF at the time) didn’t like them. In the end I wish I’d listened to my more practical side. Hubby even told me he ALMOST bought me a moissy band for our 1 year Anniversary. I did get something better, though – a puppy!
@GelaMac: Hey, tastes change, and I do remember you saying you never REALLY loved your upgrade. BTW, Berricle IS having a good sale right now, if you need a temporary fix
And congrats on gaining custody of your granddaughter!
