That's crazy! I thought this EXACT idea myself too.... That way people have something to do during dinner AND we'd have a keepsake for the holidays. I had seen somewhere where they had paisley shaped ornaments people wrote on, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm thinking of doing bird shaped ornaments they can write on. So that not everyone says the same generic thing, I may start them off w/ a few words, i.e. In the future... or Today was... or I wish.... It was touching.... etc
Here's the pic from the knot where I read this. Let me know what kind of ornaments your getting. I'm still looking around. I know there are holiday card ornaments you can get too.

OMG that is such a cute idea! I love ornaments. My wedding is in June do you think thats weird to do something like that then. I think it should be a winter wedding BUT I see you ladies don't have winter weddings.......I love this idea. You can get discount stuff after christmas too :)
@beeliever: It makes me so happy someone else thought of this too! Great minds must think alike :-) Here is the website I was looking at originally BUT I thought they were a bit small? I would be painting of course. I think that might be a bridesmaid job haha.
And here are the ones I've been looking at more recently but would need more effort (but are larger).
P.S. I love the idea of writing on some of them!! I might steal that if it's alright :-)
the heart ones are cute....I was thinking something along the line like this
then I could use the colors of my wedding
or have clear ones and put tinsel in them ??
Thats why I was thinking June seemed to be a little strange doing them but if I stuck with something different like the flat wood ones maybe not.....I just dont have that many ball kind and I think it would be awesome!

this sign is cute.....we already have had a tree because we live together but you could say something about decortating their first tree as a married couple ??
@vicozzie: I know I really want a winter wedding but FH wont :(
Those look awesoome! What kind of pens do you think would work for either the round balls or the wood ones painted? any ideas?
I love all these ideas!
i just noticed that some may not see the link I posted before. These were what I saw on the Knot. I thought they were very unique. Any ideas where I can find something like this? I like that it'shas a pattern & that it's not all just a flat surface.
Blessings Tree Notes
Instead of a book, guests wrote notes on these paisley cards and then hung them up on a branchy "blessings tree" at the reception.

I would really like birds of some sort. Thinking of diy felt or wood. These are porcelain. It would be cool if we can find unfired porcelain birds, have people write something on it, then fire them.
@themiddlelittle: you could use a a sharpie marker in silver or gold and black or a paint pen but I think sharpie would be a lot nicer

Soooo....
I have an image of my centerpieces and am having a terrible time making it into something literal. First I will start with the ornaments....
1. My future hubby and I will be traveling abroad right after our October wedding and can't bring along a lot. Therefore, I was thinking it would neat that, instead of signing a guest book, our guests could 'sign' a wooden heart shaped (colored to match our wedding) ornaments with their name, well wishes, bible verses etc. That way we will have decorations come Christmas time and get to see them for years to come!
So the ornaments is really the most important of all the ideas. I had thought of dedicating a table in the corner but then came across the wishing tree idea and thought it might pertain.
2. I am quite in love with the tree centerpieces (are those over done this summer though do you think?). So I was thinking I could hang the ornaments from small trees at each table and provide pens for writing and directions. That way people could decorate them while they are bored or before or they eat or something of the sort. The guests could be involved in the reception decor!
So my question is...does this make sense? Has anyone, by chance, done something similar to this before? Are grabbing branches from your backyard really do-able and if so what type? AND does anyone know of a good pen/marker for painted wood writing?
Whew! so many questions! Let me know your thoughts! Thank you in advance bees!
