Usually they are just placed on the gift table so the guests know where to put their cards…

What is it for? Is it just a decoration? I think next to the gift table would be fine!

My first thought is to paint it white. The wood is dark and more child-playhouse looking to me.

If you don’t want to do that, you can also gussy it up with silk flowers, hanging ribbons in their colors (seam binding is really cheap and it has a beautiful sheen)from the little roof thingy, tying a ribbon on the pail or putting a sign on it that says “wedding wishes”. Also paper cranes, garlands…If the wedding is at night, christmas twinkle lights might also look really cute.

And btw–I think that the hole in the bottom and the bucket are kind of redundant for what you want to use it for–are the guests supposed to put their wishes in the bucket or the wishing well receptacle? You might want to cover that hole up–hard to believe but there are some people for whom that appears to be a trash can! If you cover it, guests can also use that space for writing.

@Celebration_By_Chellie:

Perhaps a wreath of flowers, in keeping with their chosen wedding flowers, on the flat surface that surrounds the opening along with flowers in the bucket and an appropriate message or their names and wedding date painted on the bucket. If you wanted to get fancier you could work toile or ribbon along the upright supports and across the piece supports the bucket. Good Luck!!!  🙂

i think the guests should write little messages of support and good luck and drop them into the well.  The bride and groom can later make a scrapbook and include them as a memento of who was there to share in their magical day.

My friend left cards at every place setting asking everyone to write a wish for the couple and put it into the well. It was cute. She had a very Disney Princess type wedding. She responded on her thank you notes about the wish you left, it was really nice 🙂
