vdaybee214:  I could have picked all 4 options at any given moment of any given day!  I seriously cannot wait for the wedding.  Everything is pretty good to go, except we still have to wait another month before we can apply for our marriage license.  I can’t wait for March, because then everything will be over and we’ll be back to real life!  And I’m also a little overwhelmed with all the little things that have to happen between now and the 15th of Feb!

It doesn’t help that we close on our first house a week before Christmas.  And we have to buy *everything* for it – appliances, furniture, etc.  We’re moving from a 1 bedroom rental to a 3000 sq ft house.  It’s exciting but stressful.  And we’re hosting Christmas, twice.  The 25th and the 27th.  I’m working 7am-7pm on the 25th.  So my FI has to do the turkey (I’ll prep all the sides on the 23rd.  I’m also working the same hours on the 24th.) The 27th, is my extended family, and thankfully I’m off the 26th/27th and don’t return to work until the eve on the 28th (ahhh, shift work.  Someone has to be there.) We’re also hosting our friends for NYE.  (Basically the 25th will be “Hey Mum, Dad, Sister… here are your gifts, enjoy the dinner, then help us unpack and install shit, thanks!”

I’m off work from Feb 11 to Mar 4th for wedding, family party at the house (the only time my FIs family will all be in Canada at the same time, and his nephew/our ring bearer turns 3) then honeymoon.  🙂  I’m going to need that vacation by the time this is all done.

I’m also training a new member of our team from now until January.  Then I’m being trained for a a new position.  It’s a step up from where I am.  Training will take 10 weeks (my wedding/honeymoon falls in the middle, so it’ll be 5 weeks on either side.)  I pushed for it.  And my bosses think I’m ready.  It’s a fabulous opportunity, but its a lot more stress.  I need to hold that position for a number of years before I can apply for a true promotion (in about 8 – 10 years).  So I want to get this training done before I start taking any mat leaves, etc.

There’s TOO much going on.  It’s all very positive, but it’s a lot.  Work doesn’t really give me a break until next October! (Gah, that’s gross to write out!)

It’s a big year for us.  🙂  My FBIL gets married next June.  I can’t wait for their wedding mainly because it’s not our responsibility!  We just have to show up and celebrate!

Sorry, I totally went way off there in response… To me the wedding, Christmas, the house, the training all seem to be linked and I can’t separate one from the other.

vdaybee214:  Thanks!  It’s been a crazy couple of years.

What kind of puppy did you get?  I’m so jealous!!!  I want one so bad (this last 4 years has been the first time in my life that I haven’t had a dog.)  We are looking to get a puppy next summer, once all the craziness settles down.  We are considering either a labradoodle or a bernedoodle.  What did you call yours?

vdaybee214:  OMG.  He’s adorable!  I love the name, too!

I’m in Ontario.  I’m actually praying for snow!  We’re getting married at the ski hill (we met skiing, we ski a lot.)  And I want snow photos!  If it could NOT snow on the 13th, 14th and early on the 15th (it can snow all it wants beforehand and after about noon on the 15th!) that’d be swell.  That way our out of country guests can still get in and everyone in the province can still get to our venue.  Most people are staying the night.  So once everyone is there, bring on the flurries!

I actually looked at the famer’s almanac for our area.  It predicts lots of snow, up until the 13th, then clearing on the 14th – sometime after (I didn’t pay a tonne of attention to when its supposed to start.)  Which would be perfect.  Now, how often is it correct?  I thought they had a pretty good track record.  (I might be nuts.  I’m fully aware.)

vdaybee214:  Also, I totally understand about having the pup make you feel like a family.  We house sit for my parents when they go away, basically to look after their dog.  And just having him around makes us feel likes like a couple and more like a family.  And he’s not even ours!

    vdaybee214:  He’s so cute!!

sostobe:  We’re the same, we want a dog so bad.  I grew up with them and not having one feels weird.

We’re getting invitations sent out on the 1st, so we’re getting invitations all packaged up.  They’ll be early, but I want them to beat the Christmas mail craze.

In January, we’re going to move from San Jose to Sacramento.  There’s no way we can afford to live here.  So, I’ll have to job hunt.  In the meantime, FI is applying to teaching credential programs, and we’re trying to replace his car.

So we have a fair amount on our plate, but not an unbearable amount.
