I got married near there. Carl's Cakes in Madison rocks. Best cake ever. Ever. :D
If you need, any recommendations, feel free to email me. rcook_82@hotmail.com
I did tons of homework on vendors: cakes, harpist, horse and carriage, photographer, ect.
I'm getting married in Madison 9/26/09. I've got plenty of time, but am a total DIY bride. Congrats to all you Wisconsin brides
Hi there Wisconsin!
I'm from Florida. Husband is from Milwaukee
I didn't get hitched in Wisconsin, but in Florida- but to honor the groom and where he's from we shipped in KOPPS custard to serve at the end of the reception.
It was such a Hit!! I love Kopps!
We're getting married in Madison this summer. We've done a ton of research to pull this whole thing together and I'm happy to share what we've learned and where we've recieved the best service.
Do any of you ladies know of any good makeup artists in the Madison area? I'm getting my hair done at my normal salon but they don't usually do makeup. I'm considering stopping by one of the counters at Macy's or Boston Store to see if I can find an enthusiastic makeup artist at one of the counters there.
Mikala,
I just had my madkeup done for our engagement pics at the Clinique counter at Boston Store(west towne) They were awsome and you really get to pick your own look.
Congrats on the upcoming and past weddings. I am also doing most DIY, even my cake. I am having a Mary Kay consultant do my makeup. Wedding in the bluffs, reception in baraboo. Where at in Mad, DeForest are you all getting married. I've already got my venue but would love to hear all details, especially from Wisco. Dresses? Flowers (i still need this one), band/DJ, cake makers (cheap), rehersal venues, wedding venues, what are you doing for your bach/bachloretter party (we are co-ed, don't know plans yet, thinking the essen house and state street?). Thanks for all tips, plans and sharing your excitement.
I'm getting married Sept. 20 of this year in La Crosse, Wis. I live in New York state. The reception is at the Radisson Hotel. I chose the place because I want really good food and a sit-down dinner. I chose Cameron Gillie, of Madison, as the photographer.
Katiemarie,
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check them out! I haven't used Clinique products in awhile but it sounds like it may be time to try again.
oh my gosh Kopps custard at the reception is a dream come true!! I just moved to Milwaukee (getting married in Chicago) and I am addicted!
check out www.fre5hproduction5.com for an awsome DJ. Great sound and lighting!!!
Another awesome, awesome DJ: Eric Fischer of Madison Sound and Light DJ, www.msldj.com
We used him AND my cousin used him. Great setup, lights, music lineup, ect. You can even use their online planning system that has lists for timeline, "must play", "do not play", and "if there is time, please play" songs. They were totally great. And friendly but not obnoxious!
They book up pretty quick, so call early.
We just got out engagemnet pictures and we love them. If anyone is looking for a great and really friendly photographer check out Rebecca Cook at www.iodphotography.com
getting married christ lutheran in deforest, reception at sweet sophies in waunakee. jukebox bandstand for the dj, craigs cakes (awesome and very delicious) photographer is courtney weittenhiller at http://www.weittenhiller.com/ she is really good and price is very reasonable.
Hi and congrats to all of you!
I am living in the quasi Madison area and getting married at my childhood home in the country, June 20, 09.
Carl's cakes are the best, and I am not usually a cake fan. We are having peanut butter pie instead. Yummy!
Does any one have a suggestion for a string quartet that travels? The site is 45 min from Madison and/or Janesville.
Thanks in advance!
I wanted a string quartet originally, but ended up going with a harpist for a couple reasons. One of the reasons was that it was about half the cost easier to find!
Rachel Avery was who we went with, and she was fantastic. I'm kind of a music buff, and highly recommend her. We even got a mini private concert in her home as her audition!
She played everything from Pachelbel's Cannon in D to some of the soundtrack to Braveheart (and even had to transpose it from the original score to harp music!) And for outdoor weddings, she brings a little mini microphone and amplifier just in case it's windy.
If you'd like her email, just message me and I'll get it to you. :)
Wow, a harpist sounds so romantic and perfect for a wedding!
We are getting married at the Gesu church on the Marquette campus in Milwaukee and they are ridiculously strick about everything. They want us to use their recommended musicians (understandable - it's probably less rehearsal time). They are charging $225 per musician.
I know nothing about music, but I always love the weddings that have the string quartets. Is $225 per musician a little high or average?
Hi everyone! I just got married in CA a month ago, then moved to Wisconsin to be with the hubby for the next 3 years! Don't know much about Wisconsin, but I loved planning our wedding!
5peonies,
My husband is in med school, and he has classmates that perform for weddings all the time. I don't know how much they charge, but we're in Madison. Let me know if you're interested in their info.
I know this postis kinda old but I figured I'd share anyway...We're getting married 9/26/09 in Wisconsin Dells. Everything is at one of the large resorts in the Dells. I'm beyond excited.
I'm glad I found mroe WI brides!
Hi Ladies,
If anyone is looking for alterations and or a custom gown give me a shout. I've made 5 wedding dresses already and altered many.
I'm getting married May 2010 in Madison at Olbrich gardens. I grabbed my dress at Vera's sample sale about a week after he proposed (also at olbrich). Our reception will be completely DIY hopefully in our own backyard (house hunting now)!
