What don't you like about the current wording? I think it sounds fine. What level of formality will the party be? Is it too late to call it an engagement party - how far in advance of the wedding will it be? Do you want to include your parents' names as host?
I'm not sure.. just the upcoming wedding of S & P sounded off to me, but that could just be me :) It's not very formal, just a sunday BBQ lunch. We've been engaged since August and the party is 3 weeks before our wedding, so I think its not in engagement party territory any more.
Thanks for the reassurance!
I agree with @Cinnamon - it sounds totally fine to me. Saying "upcoming wedding" makes it pretty clear that it's before the wedding, which I think is important.

So my parents are throwing the fiancee and I a party to celebrate our wedding with their friends who can't make it to the wedding (they live in Colorado, getting married in Canada)
I can't seem to get the wording for this invite right! Help?
