    I’m pretty sure its "the late". Just "late" sounds a little awkward.

    I asked my boss, who cohosted her step-daughter’s wedding what they did (her step-daughter’s mom is deceased).  They used "The Late So-and-So" on the invitation.

    Do you have to use "the late"?  I know it’s probably ‘proper’, but I’d rather just put: daughter of so and so.
