I realized that my vocabulary has expanded significantly since beginning to plan for my wedding. What words did you not know before you started (that are now part of your nearly-everyday vocabulary)?
I’ll start us off…
Definitions for chapel length, cathedral length etc
Pick-ups, as in the skirt of a dress…
This is a cute topic!
I’m gonna say…. The acronym “STD” lol.. Totally different meaning when you’re planning a wedding!
@Pinkmoon: ditto for the veil llengths
Difference between fishtail and mermaid dress
@MsHeatFan: Yes! My inner 12 year old snickers every time I see a thread that says “Got our STDs!”
Wedding ring AND engagement ring
(None of my unmarried friends knew that brides get two rings. I sent them pictures of two wedding bands with my engagement ring to help me decide which band to get. They all said “pick the one with the big diamond in the middle!!)
All the family acronyms like FMIL, FIL, DH, DD! I’d never seen those before entering the wedding world
@Sunnybrook: Absolute ditto. I saw a thread a while back that said, “Do you like my STDS?”
I giggled and moved on with my life.
