(Closed) Work out on your period?

Lol!  I definitely feel ZERO motivation to work on when I’m having my period.  Cloest thing to working out would be lifting my arms to stuff my face with pizza (go to period food for me!)  🙂

I work out on my period. I do notice I slow down a little and I have to force myself to go but I’ve never had terrible cramps or anything that would prevent me from working out.

I generally do, but then my period is usually no big deal for me. I do skip the gym on the first day of it, if I was planning to go then. You might want to think about if you’re getting enough iron, sometimes that can make me feel really run down.

Yes. It actually will help with your energy level and it helps soothe cramps, too.

I work out almost every day, and it doesn’t affect me in the slightest.

@Mochabarbie26:  I dont like it one bit. i still do it but I mostly just bullshit my way around the track for a while and only do it so I dont completely skip out on working out. However, its completely obvious that Im not really working out lol im barely moving and basically look like a zombie. and ill usually go home and eat chocolate or some other yumminess and completely strike out any movement I did that day.

that first day or two is my free pass to be as lazy as I want!! couch all day and extra snacks!!

@Mochabarbie26:  My period takes everything out of me and I am always super exhausted to the point where if I sit in one spot for long I’ll fall asleep. I did force myself to work out last time though and although it didn’t really make me feel any more or less tired, I was proud of myself for pushing through!

Im no less motivated on my period than any other time I go to work out. Then, after 10 minutes i’m super glad that I decided to go!

I have awful periods, so oddly enough I hate the idea of working out. I have an amazing trainer, so we generally only work out (SUPER HIGH INTENSITY) for 30 mins or so. Seems to help and I feel better afterwards and helps me to resist the cravings as I have fought to put the work in.

Yes I don’t usually have motivation but it feels better to do something than to slug around even if you want to at first.

I do unless it is a really heavy flow. Thankfully my periods are easy and short and I don’t get a lot of cramps so it’s rare when that happens.

@Mochabarbie26:  I probably wouldn’t do anything intense on the first day of AF because I just find that prospect to be disgusting. My flow is heavy, (yeah, sorry. Too Much Information, I know) and I’d worry about leaking & mixing with sweat, and just …yuck. So first day is off limits, but after that, sure. Just no inverted positions in yoga!
