So, right now is our holiday lunch. It’s at a fancy expensive restaurant and then once it’s over, everyone gets to go home… however, my boss won’t let my department go! We are the only people here. (4 of us and one is a Jehovah’s Witness so she doesn’t go to the lunch anyway) My other co-worker took the day off ( put in vacation time, though the boss never approved it) but is going to the lunch! How unfair. I got my bonus and it’s way more than any other year but I’m here while everyone else eats filet mignon… ? Happy f-ing holidays!!! Anyone else’s work suck?

Yeah my last job sucked, no holiday lunch and a bonus? what’s that? oh and I had to work Christmas eve until 6 and work the day after Christmas, no one could take off…. oh except the boss and he got a bonus based on the money we saved the company 😀

Why is your boss being such a scrooge?

@MissHarleyBlue: our lunch was last week, that was fun. But today everyone I work with is being a grinch and it’s totally sucking the holiday spirit from me – and I’m the biggest fan of Christmas ever (i’m currently wearing a shirt that says ‘I still believe in santa’)

That’s incredibly lame. 🙁

That’s just not fair. Your boss definately sucks. My job is great about most things, but we get NOTHING for the holidays. No bonus, no lunch… nothing. Oh wait, we had a team lunch where we reserved a conference room and each had to bring our own, but our boss did give us each a candy cane…. whoooot hooooot. 🙁

@MissHarleyBlue: That is super lame, but… You got a bonus. 🙂 A bonus will get you farther than a holiday lunch that is one day (or half day).
I got a holiday party, but no bonus (very very rare here). If I had a choice between bonus and holiday party, I would definitely pick the bonus.

The best part is, the owner just called asking why we weren’t there and that this lunch is for everyone and he would like us to be there. He asked my boss when he told us we can’t go and he lied and said last week… um, we only found out about it Friday afternoon and I was putting my jacket on to go and was told we couldn’t! Laaaaame. I’m sooooo busy I’m on friggin wedding bee!!

@MissHarleyBlue: I think you’re lucky that you get a holiday bonus. I work for a company that doesn’t do anything for the holidays – no Christmas party (or even potluck lunch), no bonuses, etc. Be happy you get a bonus!

WTF? Sounds like something my ex boss would do. Sorry, that really sucks.

Thats terrible! What a jerk!

we don’t get bonuses, we have to pay to attend our holiday party (around $30 with never enough food plus cash bar.) and take leave if we want to leave before our work hours are over.
party is usually 3-6pm.
it was cancelled the last 2 years due to low turnout.

That sucks! // I had to resign before I got fired. I have until the end of the month. So, My boss has been doing this whole charade about how excited I must be to leave. WTF.

Meh, we haven’t had a holiday party in 4 years; before that, you had to pay to attend ($120/couple, but it was a pretty damn good party); and this year during Customer Service Week my boss told me to use the corporate card and treat myself to lunch. As long as it was under $15.
Work’s work. You wouldn’t be there if they didn’t pay you. Once you get that firmly into your head, then who gets to go to what luncheon becomes a whole lot less important.

So why aren’t you allowed to go? If there’s something important that you’re supposed to be doing, I get it… my old company always used to have to split up the support staff when we had daytime celebrations, and only some got to go, because we couldn’t just shut down and ignore our customers.
And honestly, i’d rather take a bonus than a holiday lunch, if I had to choose. I’ll spend that money on my own holiday dinner, and then some. 🙂
