I have quite a lot of stress, related to my work, right now. I have a position with a lot of pressure and responsibility and the last month has been very intense. I’m worried about the impact on getting pregnant and being pregnant. I’m currently 8dpo and you may call me crazy but I’m pretty sure I’m having pregnancy symptoms. I have often felt myself O and occasionally have had middleschmertz so not only do I know when I O, but I know where the feeling is in my body. I confirmed O with temping. Then at 3dpo and for the next three days I could feel twinges in that same spot (not normal for me). Also, I’ve been starving, often eating twice as much as I normally do/can at meals. I almost fainted in the grocery store two days ago (not normal for me) and last night I started to have slight cramping – not so intense as with my period, but slight, consistent cramping, which if I’m pregnant I figure is implantation as I’m at 8dpo. I do not cramp this early with periods and it’s a different kind of cramping.
So, if I am pregnant, I’m worried about the impact of all my job stress on this. And then of course, worrying about that only compacts the stress! Things at work should lighten up by May and through the summer, but in the meantime…argh. So, I cancelled all my meetings today and took a sick day. I plan to relax, meditate, stretch a little, go for a short walk, read a bit of a book, and think about strategies for stress management.
Anyone else feel this way? It actually helps a lot to write this out and put it out there. Thanks.

@JumpingJacks: I’m in the same boat. 8DPO and stressful job. The only reason why I think the opposite in my case is I’ve always had every symptom you listed. My body is very vocal when I’m not treating her right. I think its wonderful that your taking the day off and looking into stress management.
To help me, I am a huge proponent of exercise. For me it was yoga for years. The only reason why I’m currently not active is I’m looking for a local studio, under chiro care, and adopted two LO in the last 3 months. Well, having adopted our newest family members have kept me quite active. They have been a Godsend for lowering my stress level due to work and TTC.
I’m also really focussing on spending time w/ my girlies and family. I’m a proud library card carrier. Planning some wkend getways before summer.
Personally, I find that if I keep my personal life active and mellow, I don’t get as stressed. I’m soo Type A and its natural for me to try to SAVE the WORLD.

@squeak35: I keep telling myself that these symptoms could be absolutely nothing. I think I’m paying more attention because I am also so stressed and I don’t want that to have a negative impact IF they are in fact positive symptoms. Your ideas on excercise and spending time with people are great. I’m going to do both — excercise in moderation and going to call a friend today! Thanks.

i hope that you’re body is giving you good signals. I’m like Squeak35 I get them every month so I’ve come to start ignoring them. I too have a stressful job and lifestyle. Hubs is a pilot and is gone a lot so I have the burden of running the household. He’s good about helping when he’s home. I can’t complain because he really does help. But the daily things like paying bills, shopping and taking care of the fur-babies is hard. I also run the family business. I do pretty much all of the office type functions. We’ve had a rash of burglaries and 3 small first aids this year that has gotten stressful. We never had anything and then to have both robbery and injuries has been hard.
We have a wonderful patio and I love flowers/plants so I’ve been sitting on the patio watching the flowers bloom and dreaming up my next gardening project. Something about being outside makes you relax and soak it all in.
