So I’m a nurse and I work night shift’s in the ICU, well I worked on Monday night, and was supposed to work lastnight, but I got sick, stomach flu, I had a high temp, it was bad. Well I called in sick an hour before work, and when I called in the nursing supervisor and she said “you’re calling in sick and hour before work? Did you talk to anyone? s this cause I’m pulling you?” (a little info here, we can be floated to other floors if needed for staffing purpouses when we are over staffed/low census.) so apparently I was going to be floated, as it was my turn, but what makes me mad is that she asked/assumed that, and made that comment. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard her make comments like that about nurses who have called in sick. I mean really she has no right to assume that or make those comments! Especially to other staff!
I am very offended and mad! I’m still seething, so it’s probably good that tonight is my night off, as I can hopefully cool down some, but I really needed to vent! Thanks.
