@MsJ2theZ:  No I don’t love what I do. I like what I do and my pay and benefits are more than worth it so I stay. This is not my passion and it’s not what I went to school for. I wanted a totally different life to be honest. But providing for my son I had at 21 and giving him the life I think he deserves was more important to me. So here I am. im lucky though that I work for a good company with good people and it’s all very worth while for me.

I love my job in healthcare administration. I work for a small office now (3 total employees including myself and the doc) but eventually want a position at a larger hospital in my area. I love paperwork (weird, I know) and logistics/problem solving make me a happy gal. I met my boss at a pool party I took the kids I babysat for to. Small world, eh?

It’s scary going back to school and starting fresh but I know in the long run my pay-rate will only get better, even if not immediately.

Not so much… I mean, it’s okay but not my passion.

I’m an environmental engineer in the oil industry. I’ve always been an environmentalist, and my dream was to work for an environmental non-profit or get involved in environmental policy. I ended up where I am because of a college internship, and while it definitely more than pays the bills, I don’t get a whole lot of that satisfaction of making a difference in the world that I hoped I would.

But… I’m changing jobs in 3 weeks! Yay! I’ll be working for an electricity company that owns a lot of renewable energy plants, so that’s a little closer to where I’d like to be in the long-run. I’ve considered changing industries (my fantasy is to be a high school teacher, or to own a small bookstore/cafe) but for now I’m happy making a lot of money so we can pay off our house and save for kids.

What kind of career are you considering?

Don’t love it, certainly don’t hate it.  It’s a great job, pays well and I get to go on fun international trips which I love, because traveling is a passion of mine.  Guess I shouldn’t complain 🙂

I do love my job. It’s not what I envision doing the rest of my life, and the pay sucks, but I love the job itself. I’m only here until I graduate, unless something opens up for a higher position in the same area.

Absolutely loathe my job… which is why I’m going back to school in a couple weeks!  I’d love to do something to do with weddings and/or event planning. We live in a resort town so I’m hoping I’ll have a few opportunities once I finish school.

I work as a paralegal right now (read: snoozefest) in corporate law and real estate. I don’t get much fulfillment and the pay isn’t terribly impressive.

@MsJ2theZ: Right now I handle all the patient bills, insurance claims, all faxes, patient correspondance, phones, appointments, budgets… pretty much everything invloved in office administration. I fix all the technical issues, worked on implementing meaningful use and attested for it yadda yadda. Our doc is a housecall physician who works exclusively with seniors so I know that’s different than a typical office (we schedule based on zip codes, etc.) but it’s dynamic. I also like streamlining existing processes. *pfhew* sorry for the long-winded response! What do you currently do in the field? 🙂

I love what I do! I’m a scientist who is working on curing hep C at the moment.I actually studied marine biology/oceanography in undergrad and grad school. Thank god I focused on molecular genetics/microbiology, because jobs in marine bio/academia are way too few and far between for comfort. I was able to transition to pharma drug development very easily.

We’re prepping a drug for phase I trials and i’m in the middle of FDA report hell because one of our team mates had her baby almost 3 months early (heartbreaking!) and she was supposed to write all the reports by the end of the month. And I got a jury duty summons in the mail yesterday, UGH. So, not in love with things right at this moment, but on the whole, my company is awesome, my boss is awesome, and i’m doing important work that saves lives.
