I’m guessing you’re in the states so this probly isn’t relavant to you unless you want to move but here in Canada we get a total of 52 week (-2 for fee coverage I think) @ 55% of our wage up to a certain cap, I’m not sure what the cap is. At least that’s how I understand it, but its not our employer that pays it its through the government.

6 weeks paid short term leave typically at 75% pay.  But I paid extra to get 100% pay for that.

@mrs_pugetsound:  Why on earth do you get worse treatment for being in a union?

I’m in the UK. We get a year’s maternity leave, nine months of it with statutory maternity pay, plus you get whatever paid annual leave you should have accrued in the maternity leave. So I can take up to 13.5 months really, with varying levels of pay.

BTW: Given how much more leave non-US people get, possibly worth adding options for 6-12 weeks, 3-6 months and 6+ months or similar.

@mrs_pugetsound:  I was in California and I got 100% paid leave starting at 36 weeks pregnant through short term disability (so I got a month off while I was pregnant) then I got 100% for 6 weeks after + 75% (?) for 6 more weeks through the family care act plus I had a bunch of paid time off/vacation/sick pay, so DD was born in October, I took off work in September and got paid through April, then I quit (:

@mrs_pugetsound: Have you spoken to your union? Surely the whole point of a union is that they stick up for your rights?
