Hey everyone!  I saw some activity on the old thread but thought I would start a new one since it's Monday.  I didn't work out all week last week.  I'm hoping I can workout tonight, I've been having some pain in the muscles in my hips and knees.  Hopefully exercise can make that get better.

Did you ladies get some workouts in with the holiday?

Whoops, just posted in last weeks thread!  Let's try again in the right place :)

I didn't work out all last week either (or the two weeks before that: ugh.)  I had to stop doing the insanity because of my back.  :(  Today I'm back on the bandwagon though, diet included (last week was UGLY, diet-wise.)

I did an on-demand cardio workout today.  After doing all the hardcore stuff I've been doing, these on demand workouts are not very challenging.  I'm kind of at a loss.  Apparently my fitness level is beyond what my body is capable of doing without my back hurting, you know?  It's a frustrating place to be. I did the treadmill yesterday, maybe I'll do that again tommorrow.

My landlady is a personal trainer for this slow weight lifting method, has anyone heard of it?  I guess there's special gyms for it.  Anyway, she offered to train me at a greatly reduced rate for the wedding!  So I'm gonna try that starting next week, along with some easier cardio morning routines for fat burning.

We shall see how it goes!

I sure did. FI got netflix and any movie you want can be played on your tv. They have work out movies, and we decided to do some yoga.

@MsPensFan: Welcome!  Great job with the workouts!

@Megrit: Welcome!  Good luck getting back in the swing of things!

@MandaMack: Oh yes, the gyms from now until mid-January will be a nightmare!  I don't mean to be horrible but my old trainer and I used to make fun of the 'new year's resolution bunch'.

@lezlers: I hope your back is feeling better.  It's good to get back to working out!  I have never heard of slow weight lifting, I hope it works well for you!  PS - Sorry about sneaking the new thread on you!

@7mom: My husband and I just got a blu-ray player too so I can play videos on the TV.  Haven't tried it yet though.

FI and I got eachother an elliptical for Xmas... now we just have to use it!  My first fitting is 1/25 and I really want to lose at least a lb a week til then.

Any of you guys do Jillian Michaels workouts?  I'm thinking about getting back into No More Trouble Zones and the 30 Day Shred but the videos (and Jillian) are so intimidating!  But I know I need to work out and eat right--this past weekend was nothing but cheese, carbs, cake, and wine and I feel so yucky.

@Pomapoo: A pound a week is very doable but you need to focus on your diet for sure!  I like No More Trouble Zones.  I didn't really like the 30 Day Shred though, it seemed to get harder and didn't give me any results.

No workouts for the past two weeks (except for moving and shoveling. I can count those, right :) Diet was horrible! As of yestserday I am trying my hardest to be good again and lay off the junk food. I gave the guy who installed our internet yesterday two cupcakes just to get rid of them, haha.

For Christmas I got NMTZ so I plan to try it out today. Wish me luck!

I didn't work out on Christmas or the day after, but I ran 4 miles and did a strength circuit at the gym on 12/24. Today it is too snowy to go to the gym, so i did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (level 1, I think I need to move up to level 2 though!).

I am officially down 15+ pounds since April...and down 20 pounds since December 2009. I don't think I actually believed I could lose this much weight for the wedding...it is awesome! I'm so excited that my dress will have to be taken in :)

Is No More Trouble Zones easier or harder than 30 day shred? Do you do cardio on your own before you do the DVD?

@bikinihoneymoon: Great job with the weight loss!  I think that NMTZ gives me a better workout than 30DS.  30DS was harder on me because of my asthma but I didn't really feel like I was working my muscles much.  I don't really do much cardio but other bees have said that Burn Fat Boost Metabolism is a good companion to NMTZ.

i unfortunately have been in a frenzy for the past 3 weeks with christmsas shopping and holiday parties and such and have only worked out a handful of times. so needless to say starting today in bumping my hour workout up to two hours to help burn some of my gained calories. and working our at least 5 days a week. i cant afford for my dress not to fit, as i bought it used so i cant send it back to exchange it for another size. although im still going to be dreading working out, i know it needs to be done. i cant have my fiance looking better than me (who has been working out religiously for almost a year now). i think its about time i finally get back on the trreadmill and run my butt off.

@MissAsB: Thanks! I will try it today (if I'm feeling ambitious) or tomorrow. I prefer cardio to strength training...but that definitely means I need to do MORE strength :)

I posted on last weeks too, so I'll just transfer it over here (nothing spectacular though):

Yeah, so last week was a total fail...I'm determined to get back into my groove this week though!

And can I just say I'm so thankful I workout in my basement and not in a gym because all the gyms are going to be mob scenes the next few weeks with people starting their new years resolutions!

@JustlikeHeaven: Good luck at the gym tonight!

Okay, so I haven't worked out in like 2 weeks...before that I was going strong for a while....how do you all get back to it after a slump?  I'm not feeling motivated right now (especially since I have to go grocery shopping and at least start my laundry tonight) but I know I have to start up again because the longer I go without a good workout the harder it will be to start again...

I just keep thinking about my dress fitting, which is a mere 4 to 6 weeks away.  That, and staring at pictures of me in my dress with my back fat hanging out everywhere.

It doesn't help with the motivation that I already am the size I want to be and on top of that Weight Watchers is threatening to kick me out if I don't stop losing weight because I already got to goal (I'm not trying to lose weight anymore, I just can't eat anymore).

I do want to get more toned though, so I need to work out.  And I probably shouldn't have just eaten that pack of Twizzlers (yes - 7 points in one pack of twizzlers) but in the back of my mind I'm thinking "weight watchers will kick me out if I don't gain 2 pounds, so why shouldn't I sit on my butt all day and eat Twizzlers?"

Mleh....I'm just so not into it right now.  I blame the lack of sunshine...

@MandaMack: awww.... if you gained a few pounds of muscle you would still be within your goal range and you would be toning up :) i hope they dont kick you out!

@stephanie63087: That's so much work though...how on Earth was I so dedicated to working out 5 or 6 times a week for like a month?  Now I can't bring myself to workout at all...maybe I need a new DVD...or new sneakers...(I just like shopping, lol)

@MandaMack: You can still build muscle without working out 5 to 6 times a week.  I did before my wedding only doing 2 days of strength training.

I already belong to the WW threads but I need to beef up the exercise so please accept me as a workout buddy! I felt like I started off last week really positively - doing Zumba workouts in the breaks of my cooking. I feel like it's been a complete fail over the weekend and yesterday too - Christmas and Boxing Day I was superbusy hosting family and after brunch with friends yesterday, I fell into a turkey coma. We're pet-sitting my sister's dog tonight so hopefully will get out for a walk if this weather clears up!

I have worked out almost everyday for the past few weeks.  Nothing major, about thirty minutes a day.  I have been doing a mix of strength training, elliptical, and treadmill.  FI goes to the gym daily, so I have been tagging along for support.

I am not really wanting to lose weight, just be the healthiest version of myself.  I have been coupling that with cutting out soda, junk food, and drinking vegetable smoothies everyday and LOTS of water.

    I am feeling pretty great!

I did it....I got my butt off the couch and into the basement to workout.  I only did the Shred level 2, but that is better then nothing!

I think what's helping me get stuff done this evening is I didn't even sit down when I got home, I just got right into what I needed to do (laundry, grocery shopping, working out...now I'll eat dinner, shower, finish up the laundry).  If I had gotten home and plopped down on the couch I'd be lucky if I got myself to the grocery store, nevermind exercising and doing chores!

Tomorrow I'll do strength training...I'm thinking either kettlebells or my Jari Love DVD.

If during the day tomorrow I start posting that I'm losing motivation (already) remind me that I really do feel better when I work out, and I wanna look super hot for my New Years Eve party this weekend lol!

So the last time (before last night) that I had worked out was Friday December 17 (I did a spin class) and I feel like I'm already out of shape!  But let me tell you, I slept like a BABY last night.  It was amazing.  I just have to get back into my exercise groove...mainly because I don't want to lose the six pack that has begun shining through hahahahahah.

PS - I've decided Jillian Michael's has THE BEST oblique exercises around.  Even my personal trainer friend is impressed with my obliques...they could break things!

I did it, I went to the gym! I almost wanted to stay home but then I thought.. what if they ask how it went on the bee. It helped. I'm headed back to the gym tonight to meet with a personal trainer (complimentary training due to being newly signed up at the gym). I'm excited!

How did it go for everyone else!?

@cherrycoke: No specific DVD but in her No More Trouble Zones DVD there's a killer ab circuit, and I'm pretty sure she does "plank twists" which are hardcore obliques in every level of the 30 day shred.

@cherrycoke: I agree that breaking a sweat always makes me feel better too!

And considering I just went off the deep end for lunch (chicken fingers and french fries, yumm yumm yumm) I'm definitely going to have to break a sweat tonight!  I think the afternoon is the worst for me.  After lunch, at work, don't want to be at work, so I start to get drowsy, then I start thinking about what I have to do after work and the idea of exercising makes me want to kill things because all I really want to do is cuddle with my dog and take a nap...I think that's why I do better if I don't even sit down when I get home from work...sitting leads to cuddling, and cuddling leads to sleeping, and sleeping leads to not getting anything done!

My mantra this afternoon is "I want to look hot for my New Years Eve Part, I want to look hot for my New Years Eve Party, I want..."

Can I join in here? I swam about a dozen lengths yesterday, so finally getting back into the swing of things. We had such lousy weather here that our water just started running again after four days off, and my motivation came back with it. Although we have been hauling huge drums of water around all week, so I guess I could count that as doing something...!

Got up at quarter to six again today and hopped on the treadmill!  Yay me!  Unfortuantely, the treadmill is rather loud so I can't hear the TV unless I blast it, which FI doesn't really appreciate at 6 a.m (although he'll suffer through it gladly if it means not listening to me bitch about not being able to work out because of my stupid back.)  I can't run with my glasses on and it's too early for contacts so muting the TV and reading the closed captioning doesn't work, which basically means I'm staring at the readout on the treadmill the entire time.  You know how LONG 35 minutes is when you're running and just staring at the time go by?  Excrutiatingly long.

Gonna seek out another on-demand video for tomorrow morning, then try to come up with alternative treadmill accomodations for Thursday morning.
