I had such an awesome week with workouts and weight loss. I had lost 5 pounds last week! I worked out almost every day. SAY WHAT? Stepped on the scale this morning, gained 2 back. Sad. Oh well. The food was good last night, but my stomach got very upset.

Nada again this week.  I wasn't really expecting much because I got some Belgian chocolates at Costco (bad idea) but they were so good!  I did go to the gym 2x for the elliptical, went to pilates on Tueday, and did a workout at home yesterday.

I hope your son feels better Rosie Girl!

I gained about 3 lbs from last week! Though on Saturday I did this 30-hr famine thing with the youth group kids from my church, so the only thing in my stomach for 30 hrs was vitamin water 10, then I 1. ate pancakes 2. went to my friend's 2 yr old's bday party and ATE 3. had superbowl party food, which was actually healthy b/c my grandma made it...I am hoping that all that food was deadweight in my stomach this AM, but I am not too sure! Hope you all had a good weekend!

Slowly but surely it's coming off.  Hope to make it to the gym every day this week except Sunday.  Suddely it has hit me that it really is crunch time! I'm really bloated this week so I'm going to avoid stepping on the scale...don't want to become disappointed.

Hope your son is OK Rosie.

    Total loss: 6 pounds! Yay!

I think controlling my portions and working out is really starting to help! The BMI think someone posted last night said I am way over weight for my height, but I don't think they are counting muscle. I am going to throw in an extra couple of runs on the days I don't work out. = )

Hope your son feels better, Rosie!

Great job, girls! Just stick with it.

    Loss: -.8

On Friday, i was actually down 1.5 lbs, but after a weekend of bday parties (cake mmmmm) and the superbowl (beer mmmmmm), I gained a bunch back.  But I'm already noticing a difference in how my pants fit from doing the C25K and the Shred.  It's frustrating not to see the scale change that much, but I know my routine is working.

On a side note, my bf started my diet last week and lost 11 lbs.  I want to kill him.  It's so easy for him to lose weight!!

    Good morning girls!

    Starting weight:  167

    Last week: 156

    Today: 156.5

I was really sick all weekend and topped it off by eating sodium rich foods yesterday so I am pretty sure I am retaining water based on my weight this morning. I worked out 5 days last week and ate cleanly. I'm just going to stick with it this week.

I am starting the 'new rules of lifting for women' strength training program today! I'm looking forward to getting buff!

Ugh, Superbowl plus Dim Sum with friends made Sunday a complete crapshoot. Today it is back at er though, with Chest, Shoulders and Triceps plus Ab Ripper tonight. I am drinking mint tea instead of my usual Earl Grey to tame my tummy from yesterday, oy!

Man, I totally did not stick to 2,000 calories per day this weekend, it is SO hard when traveling and around family.  Everyone wants to go to dinner, go grab coffee, have brunch, etc.  I am starting Special K again today!

Valhalla - Sorry, I just read your question last week about the Speciak K diet.  Basically it is the commercial you see (2 weeks of the special K diet and you loose 6 lbs or a dress size).  What you have to do is eat a special k food item for 2 meals, and then 2 special k snack items.  You are supposed to add fruit etc as you want.  Your third meal you just try to eat sensibly.

I like the 90 calorie cereal bars or the waffles for breakfast.  I usually eat around 9 am or so after settling in at work.  They keep me full till about 11.

Around 11 I drink a Special K protein water drink to hold me over till lunch, or I snack on a handful of almonds.

For lunch about 12:30 I drink the protein shake or have a protein meal bar.  Both are good and are really filling.

If I get hungry in the afternoon, I drink more water and sometimes have a few more almonds.

It feels great that by 5 pm when I go home, I know I have had a really healthy day.  I eat a sensible dinner and then do the Shred.  I had a hard time dieting at home because my FI has an awesome metabolism and can eat whatever he wants.  This way, I usually have only ate about 500-700 calories.  This lets me eat a little more flexibly for dinner.

Hi girls!! I'll do my weigh-ins on Tuesdays most weeks, since I'm often traveling 2 hours on Monday mornings from the FI's. (I'm in Albany, NY and he is in Worcester, MA).

But, I'm not hoping for much tomorrow. Like most, this was a rough weekend--lunch out with friends, dinner out with FI, FMIL, and FSIL, wedding tasting, dinner out with FI, superbowl, and FI's love for desserts. I watched portions and made mostly healthy choices, but had some bites of dessert. We made healthy-ish nachos for the superbowl, which was dinner. We'll see!

@emshaw: Yay for someone else doing NROLFW!! :-) I like it--got through stage four last summer, then fell off the gym wagon in the fall so I've restarted it. I do think we need to keep up with the cardio/eating well though, otherwise it is easy to stay the same size but be in better shape on the routine.

@traceylynne: Hooray!! I'm glad to hear you've done it! I don't think I'm 100% going to follow the books suggested eating plan but I'm definitely going to follow the work out plan for the weights religously. I do plan to continue running and definitely keeping my calories to around 1600 a day. I hope I get to see some results!! Right now I can't even do a regular pushup!

Rosie -- Hope your son feels better!

Boston -- My FI is a former wrestler who is used to dropping weight. He's out of the habit now, but he can still lose (and gain haha) super quickly! It's not fair.

While I am sorry to hear that Super Bowl did in so many of our diets, I am glad I am not alone! Also, on Friday, we went to visit FI's boss and his wife for dinner, and she made homemade lasagna and brownies. I haven't had lasagna in like three years, so yeah. I didn't go overboard, but I probably should have skipped the brownie!

So yeah, no change for me this week! I didn't gain or lose; at least the good diet and hitting the gym three times last week helped counteract my horrible weekend. I am making up for it today: half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (whole wheat bread and sugar free jelly) and a chicken ceasar salad (no eggs, dressing on the side). And I even squeezed in 30 minutes on the elliptical between classes. Feeling pretty good!

@Amaryllis: Great job!! At least you didn't gain and you're back at it today!!

I can't gym it today. The only time I can go to the gym is during my lunch (I live an hour away from my gym so go when I'm at work) but had some major claims I had to go out on so I couldn't take a lunch break. I've had a clean day of eating so I'm happy with that. I am going to do my strength training from home tonight and maybe a 'lil 30 day shred to get my heart pumping!

I missed the Shred last night (partially being lazy, partially because I had a headache), but I only had 1,400 calories so thats not bad.  We made burgers for dinner and FI kept bugging me to eat another buger or more potatoes, ARGH!  He gets on me when I want a piece of chocolate but then pushes all those carbs and calories on to me.

Boooo. I knew it. BUT...drum roll...I also took measurements today and my left thigh is half an inch smaller!! Seriously, not my right, just my left. I checked three times. Then I looked in the mirror and I'm pretty sure it looks smaller to the naked eye. Left calf also smaller, right, no change. Way to go left leg!!

Hey ladies!  Great job bouncing right back after the SuperBowl weekend!  I, too, am guilty of indulging (it's so hard to turn away Hawaiian BBQ chips & Kalua Pork sliders!).  On top of that, I was completely out of it last week - got sick on Tuesday & didn't feel 100% until Saturday evening.  Jumped right back in with spin on Sunday & headed to the gym for yoga right NOW! I'll let you ladies know my weigh-in as soon as I get home.

@Emshaw & @traceylynne: yay for NROLFW! My PT recommended I check it out before our next session (tomorrow!), so I think I'm going to join in on the weights & follow the stages (especially 'cause I can't afford a PT every week, or even every month).  Doing a modified nutrition plan - combining Tosca Reno's Eat Clean advise with the stuff Cassandra & Lou recommend in NROLFW...how are you ladies doing your food plans?

Thanks ladies! I hope he gets better soon too! He has croup and fluid was starting to collect in his lungs, so he is on a bunch of meds, anitbiotics and steriods :( But, he is 2 today!!!!! So, needless to say, I will be eating some not so good for me food this weekend when we have his Elmo birthday party! Plus, FI's birthday is tomorrow. Oh great!

Okay, got back from the gym & here are the results:

    Start: 142

    Last week: 139

    This week: 138.5

    Loss: -0.5 Total Loss: -3.5

Yay! Even though I only stepped foot into the gym once last week, I lost 1/2 a pound!  Guess healthy eating really DOES make a difference, regardless of exercise!  I think what's been working for me is the frequent eating (according to a TON of fitness folk, frequent small meals helps keep up your metabolism)...whenever I feel hungry, I pop in a snack that includes protein and natural carbs (like almonds & some grapes or edamame & an orange).  Plus, I took the advice of some of you ladies & have a cheat meal once a week to keep me from binge eating.  Thanks for the tip & encouragement!

Tomorrow's my PT session...I'll let you ladies know how it goes & if I'm losing any inches.

p.s. is anyone else keeping track of lost inches?  I figure that at some point, my weight is going to plateau as I try to put on muscle with the lifting, and loss of inches may keep me motivated to keep it up when my weight stays steady...

Works been a bit crazy this week but here goes:

    Starting weight: 137

    Weight last week: 129.4

    Weight Monday: 130.2

    Loss/Gain: +.8

I totally blew it this past weekend after working out hard all week.  I had a girls night on Saturday that consisted of lots of Mexican food and Coronas.  Sunday was the Superbowl and I had a hard time resisting all the yummy food in front of me.  I am proud to say that after working out hard Monday and Tuesday I am down to 128.8.  Phew!  And I got a call yesterday that my wedding dress is finally in...I'm going Friday to try it on!

Woohoo!! Despite my rough week of getting to the gym as much as I would have liked and eating like poo on the superbowl I managed to drop some weight!  It feels great to finally see a number under 190...and to get that much closer to dropping the first 15lbs.

I also had a pretty great workout on Monday and ran for 2 miles without intervals and finished off a total of 5 miles with intervals for 55minutes....I didn't get to the gym yesterday because I wasn't feeling well, but hope to get a great workout in tonight :)

HI!  I just started my diet this week.  OMG my starting weight was not what I expected 156lbs, still trying to figure this out,  FH and I have a bet on who will lose the most amount of weight (percentage) and inches by the end of March.  I don't know how fair this is since I am supplying him with all the food he needs to be successful.

I really have to pick up the work out routines though, I am only doing Zumba once a week although every morning I have great intentions of getting up to exercise, I actually made it this morning but it took the whole time to figure out how to set up my profile on the My Personal Trainer on the Wii.

Good luck everyone I wish you much success this week.

oooooh! I need this. Can I join the group? My FH doesn't get why I stress so much about going to the gym after a long day at work, but I just want to kick myself if I don't. I would love to draw support from the group! Trying to eat healthy and make it to my "ideal" weight with 3 months to go.

Congrats to everyone that made some progress despite the superbowl temptations!

@Rosie--good luck this weekend!! I hope your little guy feels better for his party!!

@ms.pascua--I'm also tracking inches, for exactly the same reason you mention. As for eating, I read NROLFW, Eat Clean, and the more intense (and expensive) Precision Nutrition. PN is more than I need (or want) for now. On normal, routine days, I eat every 2-3 hours, make sure I have fruit or veg with meals or snacks, with some kind of protein or fat. I stopped having sugar in my coffee!! :-/ And I've been doing lots of protein shakes with fruit and flax seeds. But, all is usually lost on the weekends with the FI. I have been writing down what I eat, but not tracking calories or macros. If I stall in the next couple of weeks I'm going to ramp up the intensity and track things more closely.

@bluebutterfly: way to go girl! You're my running hero!!

I'm headed to the gym today for some running intervals then my strength training routine. After some careful deliberation and research I have decided to become a vegan and am going to get started with it next week after a huge kitchen purge and grocery shop.

@Emshaw....be careful if you are turning Vegan  and make sure that you are getting your proper vitamins and nutrients....For 3 years of my life I was a pescitarian and never seemed to have any problems from it....well until I found out I was severly anemic due to lack of vitamin B12 and low iron.  Even though I was usually doing a pretty good job of keeping a balanced diet I was lacking in the B-12 department because it is mainly in red meats.  So my advice to you would be to pay attention to those levels just so that you keep yourself healthy.
