Bees: I’m fed up with my employment. I work for a boss who has made my life a living hell. My boss texts me after work about personal things (which I hate), my co-workers (boss included) all have unconsistent attendance leaving me with a ton of extra work ans responsibility. I could go on and on about how I feel about my job and how most days, the only thing that gets me through the day is knowing I get to come home at the end of it!
I applied for and had an interview for a position elsewhere and I am incredibly interested in the position. It would be a totally different line of work and i would love tjhe change as well as the pay raise! The interview went pretty well, I thought I did good. That was about 2 weeks ago. In the past week they called my boss to get a reference check (and I had given her notice that they would probably be calling.) My boss acted totally put out that they called and were asking questions about me. While they gave me a good review, they told me after that it was “hard to be nice” and wished they weren’t losing me. I told them that it doesn’t mean they are losing me yet, it means that I made it through the first interview and the panel wanted to learn more. A few days went by and by the end of the week I still hadn’t heard anything, my boss asked “are you going to give me notice if you get that job then?” Obviously!!! Would I just not show up one day?! Never, ever, would I do that. I felt so disrespected that they even had to ask that question.
Lastly, I emailed the panel on Friday morning to thank them for the interview and let them know I was still interested – and Friday I missed a phone call from the head hiring person by 5 minutes. When I looked at my cell after work and heard the voicemail asking me to call them back I had already missed them and they had left for the weekend. So, I have been mulling around te thought of “what did they want?!” all weekend long. I wish it were tomorrow already so I could call back. It could be “we already found someone, but thank you for the email” or “you can come back for interview #2” or “we aren’t filling it at this time” – really trying not to get my hopes up and know it could truly could be one of several things that they want to tell me.
Positive thoughts that I will get out of my hellish position would be much appreciated!! Advice and comments welcome, too!
