I feel so conflicted about it. I’m so disappointed that they’ve totally departed from the book, but critics seem to like it (it had a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes).

I’m reading the book right now and really enjoying it.  Heard the movie is nothing like the book though

Same thing with I Am Legend!  I watched the movie first and then tried to read the book and didn’t like it!  I’m going to have to check out World War Z for myself now, book and movie!

Haha what made it bad? I have been trying to decide if I should go see this movie or not. I am a huge, hard-core zombie fanatic, like there will be zombies mentioned in my wedding vows and I have a very visable zombie tattoo but I seriously think I have found a zombie movie I just can’t watch. This movie looks so painfully bad, when I see previews it just looks like some stupid drama about a family that just happend to have weird herds of CG creatures everywhere.

loved the book! Seriously, I got it just to fill time on a flight, but I couldn’t put it down. The movie looks like such a hot mess! Why did they screw around a with it so much? I’ll probably watch it (streaming, not in the theater), but my expectations are pretty much in the dirt. 🙁

I didn’t even know it was a book! But too bad, I love zombie movies.

@novacaineandlaughter:  I’m also a huge zombie fanatic, have been ever since I was a kid. I even used to get made fun of in high school for it. I was pretty miffed that it became kind of a trendy thing to like now. I’m surprised you haven’t come across one you didn’t like, there are some pretty bad ones out there (i.e. Zombie Honeymoon, Dead & Breakfast, B movies).

@legenwaitforitdary:  I’ve been debating whether or not to watch World War Z. I read the book and loved it. I’ve been hearing that it deviates a lot from the book, which is disappointing. Are you typically into horror films, or zombie films?

I saw the movie and found it enjoyable. Not the best I’ve ever seen, but certainly not the worst and definitely several scary moments.

@petalpetal:  I hate how trendy they are too. Ugh every now and then I get some smartass who sees my zombie tattoo asks me how drunk I was when I got it or when am I going to do when I’m 80 and have outgrown them? Um I was watching Return of the Living Dead when I was 7 and zombies are one of the big things FI and I bonded over when we first started going out, I don’t see myself outgrowing them.

I have definitely seen ones I don’t like but I at least want to see them just by nature of being a zombie movie. World War Z look so stupid I’m not even tempted to see it.

Honestly, not to be rude, but I’m not sure I’d take a review of a zombie film from someone who doesn’t like them too much to heart…

I’m looking forward to the film, and most of the reviews I’ve read thus far seem to cast a favorable slant on it. *shrug*

I’m glad they departed from the book, because there’s NO way to do a decent movie from that book. A miniseries on HBO? Absolutely, and I almost hope maybe someone will.
