Hey dear ! I just want to thank you for taking the time to post this ! Its really appreciated ! Despite the whole thing, your ring is beautiful :)
This is a good point, everyone should know who graded their diamond; if it's not GIA or AGS, then you can count on the grades being possibly 1-2 levels worse than reported. Also, diamonds very much follow the "you get what you pay for" rule, and "if it's too good to be true..." A quick search on blue nile shows a diamond with all the same stats of the original at $2k+, which makes me believe if graded by GIA it would have been graded much lower than originally thought.
Hello and welcome! I am sorry you had this experience :( The ring is beautiful though and I hope in the end you get what you want!
Is either the old or new diamond GIA or AGS certified? If the new one isn't, then I doubt it's worth the upgrade price
Hey!
Just to update you all, after doing some research I came to realize that it wouldn't be worth the upgrade price when i could pay the same for a gia certified stone on jamesallen.com. Since I ended up falling in love with another setting, I just ended up returning it. I'll post a pick when the ring comes together!

Hey!
I just wanted to post this photo for those of you who are ring shopping online. I bought this ring from world jewels (worldjewels.com). It is item number v-6, a 0.75 Oval solitaire ring (14k) for $1099. It was supposed to be SI quality and G-H color. I called them to let them know it was an I quality ring (I had it appraised to confirm the obvious). They said that it is normal and that a professional appraiser would have stricter expectations for an SI quality ring than they do...so I needed to pay an additional $400 to upgrade the ring to an SI1, which they assured me a certified appraiser should tell me is a SI2. (strange way of doing business) But since it is so cheap, I am actually considering it. I'm not usually one to be picky about diamonds as I was expecting an SI2 in the first place, and even I can be sparkly sometimes. But yeah, the ring I received was really cloudy. If I'm paying over a thousand dollars for something, I better see some sparkle, ya know? The cubic zirconium at the jewelers where I appraised it was five berjillion times sparklier than this.
Anyway, I'm going to try upgrading, and I'll let you know if I end up getting a good one. This is a photo I took with my phone. (I do like how the solitaire looks on my hand though.)
I really enjoyed looking at all of your rings while I was shopping, and I wish someone had posted a photo of a worldjewels.com solitaire when I was shopping, so I would know what to expect, so hopefully someone will benefit from my experience.
