Hello fellow bees! I’m in quite the bind and I really need your input…
So my ceremony starts at 4pm and should end around 5pm. Our cocktail hour starts at 7pm leaving 2 hours for our guests to drive 30 minutes to the hotel, check in, and then hitch a ride with our shuttle to get to the cocktail hour.
The hotel is also 30 minutes away from cocktail hour. My fear is that by the time ppl get to the hotel after the church, check in and all that, they will then be stuck on the shuttle in rush hour traffic (I live on Long Island and there’s no way those hotel shuttles will get to the cocktail hour on a Friday, during rush hour, on time).
My invitations have already been printed and I dont know what to do!! I can’t change the time of the wedding. My friend DOES work at the reception venue so I was thinking to see if I could maybe extend my cocktail hour by 15 minutes? I’m lost, please help.

Why can’t guests check in the the hotel before the ceremony? Then have a shuttle from the church to the reception.
Having the guests check in and then get stuck in traffic sounds like a bad idea – and I’m guessing many people will miss the shuttle.

Thanks I had the same thought, but what do you think about that 2 hour window in between? I mean I guess there’s no way the wedding ceremony will be EXACTLY one hour….could start at 4 and even end at 5:30 (My Deacon likes to talk) haha.

@MrsOnorato2b: Or your ceremony might even start late, which would make it end late.
I think it’s probably less stressful if your guests check it prior to the ceremony. If I were your guest I would probably do that anyway because I’d be worried about missing the shuttle if I took too long.
Are there any places close by that your guests could just wander off to to kill the time between the ceremony and cocktail hour? If not, I wouldn’t worry about it anyway, they would probably know about the time lag. They can mingle amongst themselves if need be.

@sourcandy you’re right. I mean what’s an hour? Have to run the idea by my fiance who’s been doing the limos. Let’s hope he agrees!!!
