In July we made a down payment on our wedding venue / reception at Genoa Lakes Golf Resourt. Since then the lady who was working there as their wedding cordinator was let go (and I found this out YESTERDAY at a Wedding Expo from a potential DJ who is good friends with her!). I have tried to get ahold of the venue, and no one has returned my call, and I have called before today.
This worries me, especially since we made a $600 deposit, and have a written contract. No communication with them though is starting to look like a glaring red flag.

@Silentlove: Do you have a hard copy of your receipt for your deposit? Or at least an email/credit card statement you can print? I would take that to the venue. Just go and ask to speak with the new event coordinator. Be nice, explain that you just wanted to get to know her/him since you’ll be working closely together for the next few months. If they look clueless, show them the receipt for your deposit and double check that your date is held.
