Worried my train is going to get filthy "walking down the aisle"

Hold it up until you get to where you want to start walking.  Then… it’ll get dirty.  You won’t be the first or last bride with a dirty train.  Trust me you won’t care then.  Not like you’re going to wear it to lunch the next day.

Or leave it bustled.

Are you going to have it bustled? If so you could have it bustled and walk most of the way, until you get close to the guests and where you will be standing for the ceremony. Our ceremony was in a rooftop garden with a dusty red clay pathway and that’s what I did. It may have gotten a little dirty, though I didn’t notice it. My dress was very sleek and simple, just one loop for the bustle and it didn’t take more then a second to undo. A more elaborate bustle wouldn’t work.

I like @almostmrsj:  idea. I would put an aisle runner in place (a typical length one) and you either carry your train, or maybe have a personal attendant carry your train until you reach that ailse.

All trains will get dirty. Even if you are married indoors.

My sister was married in a church and her train had dirt/dust on it by reception time. I was married outside in a field and I held my train until I was ready to walk down the ‘aisle’. The hem of my dress and the train was dirty by the end of ceremony (I even had some puppy prints on the train from our dog), but none of it showed in the photos. Honestly, I was too happy that day to care about whether or not the dress was dirty.

Mine got absolutely filthy before I even walked down the aisle!  But whatever… I’m sure people will understand why it’s dirty and you’ll still look awesome.  My photographer photoshopped the large dirt stains out of my wedding photos as well so you can’t see them in any pictures.

@codysgirl16:  I wore my dress  bustled the entire wedding day to avoid dragging my bustle around everywhere I went.  Even doing that the bottom of my dress was FILTHY by the time we were done with pictures before the ceremony, so we tied my bustle up as tight as it could go to tuck the dirty spots underneath.

FWIW, My dress came perfectly clean at the dry cleaners 🙂

@codysgirl16:  I am concerned about this too.  We are doing all of our couple photos before the ceremony at Sand Harbor and there is not any way to prevent the train from getting dirty.  I am just going to have my seamstress put a wrist loop on the train and carry it as best I can.  Hopefully it will help somewhat, I don’t want my dress to be full of dirt by the time of my ceremony.  The train is my favorite part of my dress, and it is tulle so avery little twig will be caught in it.

I wouldn’t worry about it.  I stepped on my dress during the first look, and got a blotch on it.  I don’t think anyone but me noticed.  I kept pointing it out to people, and their response was, “OMG YOU GOT MARRIED!!!”

If it’s just dust, maybe a lint roller would work? It sounds like it will get dirty regardless. I would try to hold your train up until you need to walk. I have heard of some brides putting extra material under their dress to protect the train but it sounds more trouble than good. If it’s tulle, I don’t think it’ll be so bad but my dress was tulle as well and every piece of twig, leaf, and even an ant and gnat got stuck in it lol. Good luck! I guarante on your wedding day you’ll be so excited you’ll forget about whether or not your train gets dirty!
