We are having a simple reception after our summer evening wedding and I ordered the cakes yesterday; now I am worried if I ordered enough! Our final count is 110 people for the wedding and since is not the first wedding for either of us, we decided to go with sheet cakes. I ordered from a supermarket bakery that I know makes cakes as tasty as any speciality bakery and I ordered three half sheet cakes - one chocolate, one white and one marble. They will be air-brushed champagne color, the middle cake will have gold inter-locking hearts and the other two cakes will have our names on them and burgundy roses will accent the cakes. Our wedding colors are champagne and burgundy with accents of gold. Of course the number of servings depends on the size of the cake slices. I don't want tiny slices but I don't think we need big hunks either, I was kinda figuring on 40 slices per half sheet cake. What do you think - will there be enough cake?

Oh and the three cakes came to $66 - in case anyone is interested.

The bakery should be able to tell you how many people each 1/2 cake should serve for a small, regular, and generous portion. Then you can go from there. Who is cutting the cake for the guests? You can use the baker's count to instruct the cutter on how large to cut the pieces. Not everyone will have cake, either, especially the later it is served in the reception. Have it cut and left on a table for people to grab it at their leisure rather than serving it to each person, which will also cut down on the number you need. Hope this helps!
