my contacts and eyeglasses are essential! i can't buy those at a drugstore--almost everything else you can replace on the fly, but not contacts, eyeglasses, and come to think of it any prescription medication. i don't care if i forget all my clothes and walk around naked, i want to be able to see!
@ misspug - LOL
I don't wear contacts or glasses, so luckily I can't forget those!
Make a list, and add to it as you think of things. Then, just pack everything on the list.
One of us always forgets our cell phone charger, which is bad! Good thing we both use the same phone, so if one forgets, hopefully the other remembered.
For some reason, I always forget deodorant. Not sure why. Luckily, though, you can buy that anywhere.
Just remember to take things that you can't buy elsewhere. Such as: plane tickets, ID, passport, medicine, phone, debit/credit cards.... anything else is replaceable to an extent: clothes, makeup, cell phone charger, even underwear :)
This is what I tell myself, otherwise, I have the tendency to drive myself NUTS over if I forgot something!
@ Miss Chapstick - cell phone charger is definately one of the things I don't want to foget. We have the same phone as well, and we have 3 chargers total. One is a car charger (it's in my car) the other 2 are plug in (one I have here at work, and the other one is at our house). We are renting a car, so I definately need to remember to grab the car charger. I don't want to have to spend 20.00 on another one!
I usually forget weird things like:
Eye Makeup Remover
Toothpaste
Camera
Socks (because I don't often wear them)
Sunglasses
What I do is I always pack my toiletries bag a couple days early. I travel quite a bit so I have spare travel toothpaste, toothbrush, deo, and cotton buds packed all the time. I usually chuck in some disposable razors for FH (and me if I forget) and his spare deo and a small travel brush. We also have about 3 chargers so I usually pack my extra one because we can always divert his calls to my phone if he forgets his charger and the battery starts to run out.
Make a list. Keep it on your fridge for the next couple days. Every time you think of something you'll need add it to the list and before you go make sure you do a check to make sure you have everything :) But I always think that it's worth setting open a suitcase and chucking some underwear and socks in there a few days before you'll do any packing ;)
Make a list of everything you use on a daily basis. Like, keep a piece of paper in your pocket and add to it as you go about your day. That way you'll know about all that you need for a regular day. Just a thought!

We're leaving on V-day & road-tripping to CA. I'm excited & nervous at the same time & hoping I don't forget anything! It's too early to pack all my stuff, but I know next week is going to fly by and I can already forsee me leaving something super-important at the house and then realizing it 200 miles later.
Do you have any stories of forgetting something on vacation? Maybe it will help give me an idea of things to pack that I might not be thinking of!
