Ibuprofen (Motrin)might help more than Tylenol as it is an anti-inflammatory, as are Aleve(Naproxen).

I used to have really bad cramps (I’m on Mirena now, so I don’t cramp at all now, lol), and my doctor told me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen.  That’s like 4 of the regular pills.  It’s always good to check with a doctor first, though, before you take more pills.  Do you have a nurses’ line or something that you can call?

See a doctor.

I used to get cramps from hell.  If I managed to get an Advil in me within the first hour of noticing the slightest cramp, and stayed on the advil every 8 hours for the duration of my period I would be okay, otherwise I’d be doubled-over in pain.

When I told my doc she said to tell her if those bad periods come back again and she can give me something for the pain because I shouldn’t suffer through that much.

I get them really bad like this all of the time. The only thing that usually helps is lots of water (hydration prevents cramping), motrin (or ibuprophen because it’s an anti-imflammatory), and a hot water bottle while laying down. If you don’t have a hot water bottle then fill an empty pop bottle with steaming hot water or heat something like a bean bag to use. You can also try a hot bath to relax your muscles. If you have any essential oils you can add them to your tub. Lavander is very relaxing and calming.

If the pain continues then pick up something like Pamprin which is specifically for cramps and PMS. It works wonders 🙂 I would wait at least and hour before taking any more over the counter meds though. It’s not reccomended to exceed dosages, but I’ve occassionaly taken 3 motrin at once to help severe pain (just watch the dosage because too much is harmful to your kidneys and liver).

Take a towel (tea or fullsized). Make it damp in the sink but not soaking. Put it in the microwave for like 3-5 minutes. Stick that in a plastic bag then wrap it in a towel. Provides heat and slight pressure and is perfect for cramps (I had horrible cramps before I went on BC)

I have a really irregular period and get terrible cramps from them. Motrin, hydration, and a reaaaally hot bath- as hot as you can stand it. Also staying active, a nice walk (not at 1:30a though!) just to get moving helps me sometimes.

I was going to suggest using a heating pad

Also, have an orgasm. I know it sounds unappealing since you have cramps, but it will relieve some tension and produce a natural pain killer
