@lina010:  Wow… this sounds a lot like my day.

I had a pretty bad day as well and it made me question again if my field is right for me (I’m actually in engineering as well). I would ideally like to get into education (I think), however, I only graudated about a year and a half ago so I’m still working on paying off student loans.

Anyways, I don’t really have any advice for you (as I’m kind of in the same boat) but hopefully someone else who has made a career change can give us some answers!

Sorry to hear the both of you are having a tough day. I’ve definitely had those days too. I can’t speak to a career switch but I recently changed jobs and the new setting is 100x better. OP, it’s funny you mention the difficulty working with men…one of my gripes about my old job was the gossip circuit from working with all women!

As you are considering a career switch, maybe ask yourself if you dislike the work you do or if you dislike the people you work with? If it’s the latter, then maybe moving yourself to another environment would help. If it’s the former, then maybe ask yourself if there is something related to engineering you might be interested in. What is it about adult education that is appealing to you? Would you prefer more interaction with people? Is it possible to find an engineering job that requires more contact with people?

@lina010:  If you 100% HATE your job, b.c of the job and not the people(men) then i say go for a change. But if you only want to change b/c of the people (men) and you do like the job, then prove those men wrong and rock it at your job!!!
