i started reading this and right away I thought, its a UTI. It can be treated.

Do you have pet insurance? I know its an added expense, but for me its worth it. Last year I had to hospitalize my Daisy and the bills added up to about $1500. I got reimbursed from the insurance company $1100. Its worth looking into.

I hope your pup has a speedy recovery!

I know this can be a scary time for you, hopefully she responds well to medications and is home quickly and feeling better!

Hugs coming your way!  Hope all goes well and that your girl is home in no time.  Does the emergency vet offer Care Credit?  I know when my little guy ran up major emergency bills, our Care Credit line gave me a year interest-free to pay them off.

First off, I’m so sorry. Having a pet be sick is so scary and stressful. But they’re troopers!

Secondly, be careful with emergency vets. They will play off your fear and love and give a million tests that aren’t necessary. Did they test for a UTI? Because they’re emergency, they charge more than a standard vet and definitely take advantage of it. I’ve worked in the industry for years.

@winstonchurchill:  If her platelets are etremely low that is pretty serious and not just a simple UTI.  Unfortunately, many different disease can cause low platelets as well as there being no other secondary cause.  The tests are recommended because the treatment and prognosis can differ greatly if there is something else going on that caused the platelets to be low.
