    @gromble:  your setting is one of the prettiest ones I’ve ever seen! I think it would look beautiful with a stack of several bands, which is how I would wear a smaller ering. Whether you upgrade is really up to you, but I think your current ring is really beautiful on your hand.

    @gromble:  I also wouldn’t pay $4000 for a 1/3 carat diamond, noooo way.

    I guess I have a hard time picturing the difference from 1/4 to 1/3. Is it THAT noticeable?? If not I wouldnt upgrade or at least not for a small size difference.

    Wow! I love your ring and the setting is so pretty!  With that said I would keep it as is.

    @gromble:  I’m confused… a 5.8mm stone is NOT 1/4 carat, nor is a 6.5mm a 1/3 of a carat.

    Those sizes correspond to 0.75 ct and 1 ct respectively…

    Can you please clarify?

    Your finger is small (so the stone looks pretty large) and the carat difference isn’t much, taking into consideration the inflated price for not much of a bigger stone I’d say to keep it as is.

    Ohh! I know this ring! I love it. We almost went with it, but I couldn’t try it on before, and didn’t want to ship it here to canada, and then have me not love it on my hand.

    I don’t think the difference between 1/4 and 1/3 is worth 2000. I think that if you did want to get a larger engagement ring, you should see if there is a local jeweller who could redo the head of the setting. I bought a 0.34 J, IF, XXX Ideal cut, canadian diamond for 700 from Blue Nile. If you have access to a good local jeweller, I’m sure they could easily duplicate the bezel part to fit a larger stone. I had a jeweller redo the head of my ring for 220. So cost of larger diamond, and labour would be under 1000. and you have a 1/4 ct diamond to either sell, or do something else with. Necklace?

    @gromble:  ah, perfect! I was going to mention seeing a similar ring at Catbird NYC, but I guess it’s the same one! I’m considering a couple of Satomi bands. I have a handmade ering as well, so I understand paying a premium to get something special.

    I think your ring is beautiful as is. I personally wouldn’t change it. It is ultimately up to you though! If you are craving a larger diamond than go for it 🙂
