My fiancé and I have started taking a few dance lessons. We would ideally like a choreographed first dance. Our instructor wants to teach us a foxtrot but things are not going the best. We still don’t have a choreographed first dance and I think we have a lot of work ahead of us. When we are there, we enjoy ourselves and with her guidance, we seem to catch on. However, my fiancé seems to forget steps, and we don’t have a lot of opportunities to practice. I have been paying for the lessons. Another thing that is tricky is that I have a disability that affects my walking, and my instructor wants me to walk in backwards onto the dance floor before we begin. She is convinced I can do it but I am trying to tell her that I don’t have good balance. She tells us that the man doesn’t usually walk backwards in the fox trot.
I’m not sure if it is worth continuing or if we should just ‘rock back and forth’ for our first dance.
Our wedding is October 13th.
