Some florists will do this (i.e. you order flowers online, they'll put them together), you just have to ask if they're one of those or not. My florist said she'd do flowers from ones I bought online if that's the option I wanted to go with, then I'd just pay her for her time and delivery.
I love those flowers- they are sooo cute!
I think it really depends on the florist... luckily you can shop around for florists & ask them point blank when you meet if it is a possibility. Perhaps instead of going to the most popular florist you could search for a smaller shop? Smaller vendors are usually a lot more accomodating than those that are considered to be the best in the area.
I don't think that this is tacky at all. A friend of mine got married a few years ago and found out how ridiculously expensive lily of the valley were. Her future mother-in-law picked armfuls and armfuls of them the day before the wedding and brought them to the florist to be put in all of the arrangements. It's really very smart of you to do this...
As a floral designer, I would do what you are asking, however, I would not be responsible for the bouquets after leaving the shop because I would not be able to verify the quality of the blossoms.
@ Kay7....I agree with you regarding the LOV...in a shop, LOV are at least $3.00 per stem, and the availability is a short season!

I haven't met with a florist yet, but one idea my mom had was to ask the florist if she could make my bouquet with flowers that we would provide. You see, my wedding is taking place right around the time when lily of the valley is out and we have two huge patches of it in our yard. Would it be tacky to ask the florist if she could make the bouquet with our flowers? I've heard that lily of the valley is veeeeery expensive, but if we could provide it ourselves maybe that would help? My mom offered to make the bouquet, but she's also making our cake and having the rehearsal dinner at our house and I don't want her to be too overwhelmed. Thoughts?
