We’re going to do our own STD cards, to save money…and also because it’s fun. 🙂 I’m using Microsoft Publisher to make them, and am going to use one of the standard card formats. I did this before with other postcards, and for the four folded card, I was able to get 4 cards out of it.
The problem I’m finding is that the 4 card is verdical, and I was envisioning a horizontal card. There is a bi-fold card that is horizontal, but that’ll be bigger.
So, I guess my question is…is a big postcard (about 1/2 the size of a sheet of paper) too big for a postcard? Should I just figure out a way to make it horizontal on a verdical plane? Or just not be so silly and make a verdical card?

If you are mailing them as postcards and not putting them in envelopes there are specific size requirements to get the postcard rate, so be sure to check the USPS site to make sure whatever you decide works.
If it fits the requirements, I say go with whatever works best with your design!

I’m sure there is a way to change the vertical to horizontal. See if there is a format option.

I’m not sure if this would work, but could you rotate all of your images and text so that they are horizontal? That way, when you cut them out, they will be right?

I don’t think I can rotate the paper itself. But I can definitely rotate the images. It’ll just require me to turn my head when I’m looking at it. Luckily, my neck functions pretty well so I think I should be okay. 🙂
And ladyox, good call on post office requirements. I’ll check that out before going forward. 🙂

As long as your mail carrier will except them without an extra charge, sure why not?

Postcards are perfectly acceptable, Plus you can include more info that is not possible with a smaller card.
