I don’t think it will look off but it does depend somewhat on the shade of the navy blue. IMO the issue regarding pairing black with navy is that it can look like you were aiming for all black or all blue and you accidentally mixed the two. As such, if it’s a bright navy blue next to a black suit, I think it will be fine.

For example, in this photo, the blue is very blue and would look great next to black suits.

@kansas_nurse:  I think that should be fine. There’s no mistaking blue v. black with that shade.

I think navy and green is a lovely combination and the guys in black is cool.

Our girls wore navy and guys in black tuxes. It looked awesome!

I personally don’t like the colored vests and ties to match the Bms

I think you should put the gentlemen in navy suits! Not a fan of incorporating black and dark blue into this color scheme.

@kansas_nurse:  I’m using marine dresses too! I hadn’t even thought about black suits… actually, my biggest dilemma is what to do with the groomslady… black dress to match the groomsmen but a marine sash or something to coordinate with the bridesmaids? My girls will (probably) all be in different styles, but they haven’t picked them out yet, so I suppose there’s a chance they’ll all like one or two styles.

That’s the same palette I have, and I was really worried about it too.  However, I’ve seen a few weddings where it was done and think it looks really classy.  I’ve decided to do black tuxes and blue dresses.

I like your color scheme! It sounds pretty. FI and the groomsmen will be wearing tuxedos (black, obviously) and the bridesmaids will be wearing floor length navy dresses. I see no problem with the combination. The black suit/tuxedo can stand next to any color ladies’ dress and still look good.

I’m really not a fan of navy and black together. Could you do a bluer blue?
