So I really like the look of birdcage centrepieces with candles and flowers. I was looking around and found some that I really liked. When I showed them to SO he pointed out that his (and my new) last name is Crowe. Would it be cheesy to use the birdcages?

As a guest I wouldn’t think anything of it. Now if you actually put a crow in the cage I might find it a bit cheesy but I don’t think the bird cages will be cheesy!

Even if i did realize I wouldn’t think it was done because of your last name. It would just be a coincidence, and find it a bit funny, but not cheesy at all.

This is a classic examle of the bride worrying about details about which no one else will give a moment’s thought.
If you like the birdcages, I would go ahead and use them.

I’ve always thought using a cage wasn’t the most appropropriate symbol for a wedding, but I know a lot of people love them.

I cant imagine anyone would think about it.

I probably wouldn’t put it together at all. And if I did think “Oh right, they’re the Crowes” I’d probably just go “heh.” and that would be that. I’d only think it was cheesy if the execution was really poor.

What matters is that you like them and they look good. If you want birdcage centerpieces, go ahead and get them.
