My fiance and I have a deep connection with this song. “I Will Follow You into the Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. It will be played on the piano. Is it even appropriate to play? I don’t know if I am using this song in my prelude or recessional. Any advice?

Oh Applestar13, I love his song! The lyrics are so meaningful! I think this would make for a beautiful recessional!
Edit: I just listened to it and teared up! I wish my FH liked the same kind of music I do!

Nice song, I get the sentiment buuuuut I think it’s a little morbid…Just my opinion..I’ve heard more depressing songs at ceremonies. If it means something to you and your FI do it.

If you love it then use it. I don’t think it’s depressing or morbid at all. If you are getting married in a church, you may not be allowed to use it since it is not religious but if you are getting married anywhere else, then it won’t be an issue.

To us, it is slightly morbid but it doesn’t bother us because we both love the song. I just don’t want it to be too depressing. Another thing I should mention is that the lyrics probaly would not be sang to try to hide the”depressioness”. As pretty as the lyrics are to me, I don’t think my guest will like death, hell or heaven in a song during a ceremony. I am still undecided as I will not be getting married in a church. So the song is ok in that aspect. 🙂

It is a slightly morbid song, but if you love it, I’d have it played at the reception. But it’s your wedding!

I think you should use it where you want. I’m walking in to Nirvana played by Vitamin String Quartet because Nirvana has meant so much to me and seen me through the worst times of my life. It seems only appropriate that I walk into a band which has deeply impacted my life and I could care less what other people think (even McGroom). This said, I am a total “do what we want and don’t worry about what others think” bride. I mean not that I’m doing anything extraordinary, but if someone has a problem with ceremony music and it’s that big a deal to them, well, they can do what they want at their wedding. Hope that helps.

I am having this song as my bridal party proccession. I love the song! I let my mother listen to it w/lyrics and she said that it was a little morbid for a weddding. I dissagree. I think although it is a little morbid it is an extremely romantic song! I say go for it! check out my post
