I think they're wonderful! Seriously, how clever is that? If this is what you want, then rock it and don't look back.
I think it looks really neat - if I was a guest at your wedding, I would want to take one of those paper flowers home!
I think it looks cool but I think your guests might not see the art in it. Maybe not for wedding centerpieces. You might be able use them for your rehearsal dinner, though, since they're less formal.
I think they're awesome. I really wanted paper flowers at our reception as decorations but FH vetoed it.
Also, tacky is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone does something that others think is tacky, who cares? If you like it then go for it.
I hate the word tacky! I've NEVER seen something at a weddnig that is tacky- sure there were things that were ugly, or cheap, or out of place, but tacky is SO subjective that I try to never use it. As for your ideas, I think they are terribly creative and different... I would love them!
@realeastcoaster- aww thanks so much!!
@charm bracelet, well we're not having a very formal wedding. At first it was just going to be in my backyard, but we had to change it because of unpredictable weather. But I still want to hold onto my vintage theme, even though I can't do it outside... and my guest list is less than 100...so all the people coming I know REALLY well - they're either family or close friends...
does that change anything?
@littlemissmoo, aww they are so cute, sorry the fiance didn't like them :( my fiance isn't too picky (which can be good and bad haha), he has a hard time making any kind of decisions, so if I show him something he's basically, "yup, that's good." hahaha.
@kjpugs, hahaha. I totally understand that! I meant would it look like I'm being way too cheap or like I was too broke to afford the real thing (which I probably am anyway haha)
I love it, but my thought is it will depend on your audience. The "Wedding Blog" set (i.e., us brides and our peers who devour charming, unique, modern details on all the wedding blogs,) will likely love it. Your Great Aunt Thelma might be perplexed. I think you have to think about who your audience is and how much you care if they don't get it!
One way to dress it up just a little bit might be to use colorful paper vs. the newsprint. Or, have a few newspaper flowers mixed in with a few monochromatic paper flowers.
I'm with Circus Peanuts - it depends greatly on the audience. When I told my mom I would probably wear colored shoes she was like "what? Aren't you supposed to wear white shoes with the white dress?" - sigh...
Yes, that does change things. If the event is not so formal then I think you can do them. Guests won't be expect formal. Plus I think they're nice.
Weddings today are all about doing what's YOU! I say as long as you make it work, it'll be awesomeness.
I think they're cool! I would maybe mix in a solid color or black or white flowers so that it's not all newspaper...very unique. It's so random that I don't think anyone would call it "cheap" definitely artsy!
I think they would lool great in different vintage print colored paper. The shape of the flower is very nice.
Hmm, I mean, I'm just not sure. I get what you are trying to do. However, whenever I've seen ladies using other things than flowers, I always feel like it looks like they were trying to creatively cut corners.
I think you should probably do flowers. For this look to really work, I think you'd need a professional designer to really do something amazing.
However, I definitely wouldn't call it "tacky" if you chose the paper route. To someone like me, it will look like you didn't spend much money on the decor...
i LOVE it. if i was one of your guests i would think it looked awesome and that it was really unique. it would def stick out in my mind, but in a good way. seriously, i love it. def go for it!
Very unique, i like it. My cousin made a flower out of TOILET PAPER and we joked about him doing his own "flowers", needless to say those newspaper roses look beautiful :)
I think they're super cute - although I think you should mix them up with monocromatic colored flowers also.
PS. if you're DIYing this - try making the paper flowers before you committ your heart and soul to having them as your centerpiece - you might not be as happy with the flowers you produce as the ones shown on blogs (lesson learned the hard way)

Not just because I want to cut the costs of flowers, but also because for my vintage themed wedding I think it's super cute, do you think I could get away with doing something like this for centerpieces and decorations?
As for the bridal and bridesmaids bouquet I'll either do the real flowers or something simple like this, I have a pretty extravagant dress, so I think I could get away with something more simple:
OR do you think it just looks like I'm being way too cheap??
