So, I'm trying to make our wedding as fun and personal as possible. FI and I were randomly watching Muppets Take Manhattan this weekend, and when this song came on we were both like, OMG we should have that play right before the bride appears to walk down the aisle. Would it be cute, or just weird? I feel like it's a really old movie so people might be like wth??? But I still think it's cute, and everyone knows the Muppets right? I was thinking having it play until right after the part with the penguins, and then at the part where they all look back to see the bride, have it go into my processional music. Are we crazy?

and by play, I mean just the music, not like a screen with the movie on it. lol

I tend to think entering into marriage is a little more serious than muppets, but if it's in keeping with your personalities and the feel you want for your wedding, then I say go for it.

It's cute and all, but it's a no for me. Not my personal style. I don't like when weddings turn into theatrical productions. This isn't one of the more popular Muppet songs either.

I think it would be AMAZING!  I love the muppets and this is such a fun song. People will talk about it and laugh and will be really excited to see you after that song. I love it!

Yep, I'm totally doing the same thing! I've been planning on it for a while. My wedding is movie themed and The Muppets hold a special place in my heart from my childhood. Go for it!!!

And I don't think think a song choice reflects how serious you are about marriage. If that were the case then a whole lot of people on here are headed for divorce! LOL

I would say that if both you & your FI agreed that it was  a cute idea....do it.  You could even have it playing in the background before you are announced.....make it like a walk in song for your guests.....it's definitely different & I hope you do it!

@Future_Mrs_Price:  Yeah, I tend to agree, I don't think having a little fun doesn't mean you're not serious about your marriage. I tend to think a wedding should be about fun and celebration....and FI and I are totally goofy.

Also, I'm going to be an emotional mess (especially since I recently lost my father and it will be hard not having him there), so I thought maybe hearing this while I'm 'waiting in the wings' would give me a good laugh and stop the waterworks!

@Robin_Sparkles:  I'm sorry to hear that (I'm in the same boat with you again there). But it will be a good day full of happiness and great memories, and tears are ok as well!

I think it's a great idea. I think weddings should be celebrations of who you are as a couple, and if you want Muppets you should jolly well have Muppets. Hell, I'm having Lord of the Rings. There's no point turning it into a deadly serious affair if that's not who you are, and having light-hearted touches at your wedding doesn't mean anything about the commitment you're making.

what about playing it at the reception when they announce you coming into the room as mr & mrs.

i dont think it's appropriate to play at a wedding ceremony.

I'm actually planning to do this as well!  So fun!  And there's nothing inappropriate about it!  I had to draw the line, however, when my fiance requested we play "Marry the Man Today" from Guys and Dolls when he walks in :P

    OMG I LOVE IT.

I LOVE MUPPETS, and I love little quirky touches added to weddings that make them unique.

I think you should totally go for it, especially if you're FI is down with it.

If you don't do it because of what others say, you might regret it! I think your guests would get a good laugh out of it.

We'll see. I see it has mixed reviews, but honestly if we decide we really like it, we're gonna do it. For what it's worth, we're not getting married in a church, but I agree I don't see anything innapproriate about it. I think it's fun, and we're fun....and I can definitely see people saying, 'That's so them!' Laughing I still have 7 months to decide (OMG ONLY 7 MONTHS!)

I like the idea, something to relax the mood, and put your stamp of personality on it.  I don't think weddings HAVE to be formal, so long as you are sensible and sensitive while actually professing your vows to each other.  But I think there is so much empasis on how things SHOULD be - but I believe they should just be about you two :)

Not only is that a cute idea, I think FI will want to steal it. He seems to think he's a 6'5" muppet.

I agree with the posters above - it all depends on what kind of ceremony you're having. If you're having a more formal, choreographed ceremony: probably not. More casual ceremony: DO IT!

I am a huge Muppets fan... Muppets take Manhattan is probably my #1! For the wedding ceremony though, I just really don't know.

Some people, who have that certain kind of personaility can pull it off. I remember seeing an episode of Four Weddings where the couple had this lil aligator puppet and found a way to incorporate him into the entire day. It WORKED for them (even though the other brides were like WTF).

So, if people understand that you and the FI are like crazy obsessed Muppets fans, then go for it. If it is something you just think is cute, it really may not go over very well.

But, then again, at the end of the day, IT IS YOUR DAY!  Do whatever the heck you want to make you and the FI happy and more in love. :)

@AirForceWife78:  This is the best video EVER!!! Oh my word... After watching this, I now feel my wedding ceremony is going to be dull and boring. Back to the drawing board I go for the ceremony, I guess. :)
