I started shopping for a shower dress this week and stopped into Alfred Angelo becase I saw a style I liked online. They didn't have the dress I was looking for but I found several others to try on.

The consultant bought me over a long gown and at first I told her I wasn't interested and she instead brought back some other options. I tried many on and rfound one I really liked, but it wasn't my size so she brought back the long one (which was my size) just for fit. When I saw myself in the long one I was really in love much more so then I was with my original choice. It was so figure flatterng and had a really elegant feel to it. I asked about shortening the length but due to the material the seamstress advised against it and to be honest I like it long.

Do you think it would be weird for me to be the only one wearing a long dress at my shower? It's a mad hatter tea party theme and it's being held in a junior ballroom in a hotel.

The consultant kept telling me it was totally ok and not out of the norm because I'm the guest of honor and I can stand out- but I'm not sure if that was a bunch of BS.

    What do you all think?

Here is the dress style that I had in mind when I went shopping:

And the long one that I love:

If it were a ballgown or something...that would be weird. The dress that you like however seems like it would just set you apart in a good way. I like it...go for it:)

what kind of material is it? if it's long and satin that might be a little much. the pattern does help it look more casual though. if you're going to be self-conscious that you're overdressed, get something else...you want to be comfortable!

Oh that's a CUTE long dress! I was thinking it'd be a formal gown, which would be strange. That's fun and i like it a lot

No, I think that dress is perfect.  It looks "breezy" to me.

No, dress length is a matter of personal preference as much as a skirt or pants would be.

It will look fine and not be weird at all.

Love the dress. It is casual enough thanks to the natural shape, the halter neck and the pattern, so I think you are fine.

I love long dresses, especially when the guest of honor is wearing one. I don't think it will be weird at all. Everyone should be wearing what they want anyway. You may be surprised, another girl might have a long dress on too.

Thanks for all the input ladies. I'm still shopping a bit but I have a feeling it'll be my choice in the end! You are all awesome :)

Nope, I think that's still a fairly "casual" long dress.  I don't think of it as a gown.
