@MissAsB: I have never seen one like this and I thought it was really cooll! If you do get it we have to choose drawers under or a trundle bed... HMMM....
I don't know about safety because I have almost zero experience with kids but I love this bed! I love the idea of the storage in the drawers but I've always loved trundle beds. I always think they're such a great idea for when friends come over and spend the night and I wish I had one growing up.
@mandb122: I had one and it was great when we had sleep overs and the drawers storage is what made me like this one!
@MrsRuby: Thank you and I think we will be getting it as long as I can get Fi to get rid of the bed his mom bought that takes up WAY too much room...
I think it would be great. It doesn't look too high, it has rails for the top bed, and the stairs are great. For extra caution, you could always put a non-stick mat on the tops of the stairs so stocking feet don't slip, and you could even make some batting covers for the rail if you want to make them cushier (then again, rolling into a hard rail might be good to wake up the LO and make her scoot back to center). Super cute find!
ETA- If you do get the trundle bed, you will have a back-up in case the 4yo isn't quite up to the top bunk thing, and then there's a spare for guests' children.
@NDBee: I didnt even think of that! Great idea and they have the really cute non slip things for the bottom of your bath tub I wonder if they would work on the wood?
@MsPanda: I would think so (you're talking about those suction cup style ones, yes?). They have some adorable ones (ducks, frogs, etc)! Or else you can always just find a non-skid mat and glue it down and include a glow-in-the-dark strip on the edge of each step for middle of the night potty runs.
@NDBee: My grandma used to have one that stuck to the bottom like a sticker and would yell at me for picking them off... I was thinking about those but I dont know if i would be able to find them... But I like the glow and the dark strip idea alot!
I love this bunk bed. The stairs are so much better than the ladder that my sister and my bunk beds always had! I agree about putting some kind of nonstick thing on the stairs.
This is a great find!
Love it!
I worked at a summer camp (which obviously had bunk beds) and they had a special weekend camp for 5 year olds. The "railings" on the bunk beds were 1/4 high as those and everyone has fine, so I honestly wouldn't worry about it. That might be the safest bunk bed in the universe.
@eloping: Thats part of the reason I like this one!
@bpcmarj: I always had a ladder one too!
@soon2bhis: thanks for making me feel better about it!
That is such an awesome bed!! I'm jealous, I really like it. Honestly I'd probably let my 2 year old sleep on top since the top has the rails and the bottom doesn't. Whatever they want though. And I would go with the storage drawers. Trundle beds are cute, but used on rare occasions. Drawers can be used every day!
It looks very safe to me as long as your daughters are the type to follow safety rules...not climbing over the railing or anything. I love the idea for texturing the steps and the glow tape (brilliant). And the additional storage is awesome!
LOVE that! It looks alot safer than a regular bunk bed. I had bunk beds & they was both mine. I just wanted them when I was younger. lol But anyways mine had a ladder & that thing was not fun going up & down all the time.
@MightySapphire: Yep Fi said the drawers were a smarter idea and the 2 year old is a dare devil I would not want her sleeping on the top lol... we are planning on getting her rails for the bottom bunk too!
@mg1363: I know the oldest should be safe its the little one i know we will have to keep her off the top...
@Mrs.Estep: I agree the Ladder is not fun and I do think this is the coolest bunk beds I have seen yet! and yes the safest too!
I don't have any kids yet but that is a really cute and I can't see how any littles girls wouldn't love it.
safer than the bunk bed i grew up with and i never fell out or fell off ...
@Heatherloveskenny: its from http://www.bunkbedking.com/ Its the best one for the least amount of money ive been able to find so far! they have a TON of bunk beds for pretty good product and NO PARTICLE BOARD! They start at $548
This is just too cute! I love the look of it and I think your girls will have a blast sleeping on it, and it does look super safe too :)
@MsPanda: I'm completely considering buying one of these! thanks for sharing :)
I hope I'm not the dash of cold water here but I think 4 1/2 is a bit young for a top bunk. It looks very safe but I wouldn't trust them not to horse around and fall out of it. I let my son go up to that level when he was about 6 and my younger was in the bottom bunk (he was 4).
And I still had to keep a good eye on them and make sure they didn't play up there. Which they did anyway. I know for a fact that I'm a very nervous mom so take my words with a grain of salt. You know your own kids. And it is a really adorable bed:)
My bonus son is almost 4 and we are getting him one that is exactly the same with the drawers as stairs. I think it's great. And let's be honest, if she's too afraid to sleep up top for now, they can always sleep together for a little while in the bottom bunk
@Koala Bear: thank you!
@Heatherloveskenny: No problem! I dont mind helping out someone else.
@PutABirdOnIt: My 4 year old acts like she is 30 thinking about it I am not worried about her sleeping on the top bunk Im afraid of my 2 year old going up on the top bunk because she is a dare devil...
@mwitter80: That is so true The little one always climbs into her bed and sleeps with her as it is now.
IT is super cute - the only thing I'd worry about is their feet getting caught and flipping up the drawer top/step if that makes sense? Unless they stay shut via magnet or something?
I think the bed is very cute but I gotta agree with @PutABirdOnIt: that 4.5 seems a bit young to be on a top bunk, and kids these days and very adventurous, my siblings and I used to try to fly off the top bunk with "capes"
Is this picture to scale? Because the way I see if, it looks very small with respect to the walls of the room, meaning not a lot of head space on the bottom bunk. I would think it's fine if you are just planning on using it while they're little, but I don't think you could expect them to get more than a few years out of it, right? I know you are worried about safety and I totally get that since your kids are young, I just would have to put that much money in a bed that you can only use for a few years!
I love it! We are actually just about to set up my DH bunkbeds from when he was a kid for my *almost* 4 year old. He still will sleep in his toddler bed, but its getting a little small, and we need the matress for our crib! He is super excited to get bunkbeds!
@ChemistryBride: I did the measurements and she will have plenty of head space. and the beds do come apart also so even after they are too old for bunk beds we can still use this!
I love this so much I want to start making babies now! (My FI is gonna hate you btw :P)
I think it looks very safe, and I disagree that 4 1/2 is too little. In my childcare experience, I've noticed that children get *more* adventurous as they get older. I think at 4 1/2, she probably still has enough "fear" to keep her from trying to climb out. And the storage! OMG the storage! Storage does things for me you don't even what to know about :P

So I have 2 daughters ages 4 1/2 and (almost) 2. The youngest wont sleep in her toddler bed anymore So I was looking into getting her new bed but the bed room can not fit 2 twin sized beds so I started looking into bunk beds when I found this bed.
Do you think the top bunk would be ok for my oldest... I know the stairs are safer. And she loves the idea and thinks that is really cool! Am I just being over protective?
