Yes, I think the scroll things on the edges would get caught on things :-/

@cmsc831:  Yep, probably will get caught on sweaters, your hair, and other random things.

It looks like it COULD but it’s soooo pretty! I would love it no matter WHAT it snagged!  GORGEOUS RING!!

I think it would, but you know, my prongs get caught on things too and I just got used to it and learned how to avoid it…I think if you really love the ring you shouldn’t let it stop you!!

@cmsc831:  That looks like it will get caught on EVERYTHING!

I’d just be honest with him. Well first i would wear it for 3 or 4 months, and let it shred everything and let him see that it shreds everything. Then I’d just be like, “I love this setting, lets put our birthstones in it and I’ll wear it on weekends, but I have to reset my diamond in a bezel if I ever want to wear it to work. I don’t want people to think I’m single, so bezel it is.”

Maybe if you re-frame it as wanting to appear taken and wearing a ring, and that you will keep the custom setting also he will be more open.

I think you will be fine. I have a marquise in a high setting and it gets caught on things sometimes but I have learned how to control it getting caught on things. My RHR is a cross from James Avery and it sits flush against my finger and it still gets caught on things! Like I said, I think you will be fine. It will just take some getting used to.

@cmsc831:  Maybe he could just continue the scroll so there aren’t ends that can get caught? Like make them go into a full circle?

Yeah, that ring would snag a lot.

I would never cope with a setting like that, I would go nuts!

@cmsc831:  Yes unfortunately – while beautiful, I think they’d catch on tons of stuff.  :/

@Miss Leopard:  +1 keep the setting he designed for another stone and reset the diamond into a bezel. I just got my bezel yesterday and I love it!!
