I think it is totally doable and would look very nice. Another option might be to go to a fabric store and look at their fabric to see if they have anything with a white background and a purple pattern that you like. All you would need to do is cut them and sew the sides and ends.
@noritake22: That was also an idea...but I'm better at painting over stencils then I am at sewing (i.e. my painting looks neater/more professional then my sewing) so I opted for this instead!
@MandaMack: That's beautiful! Can you let me know how it turned out for you? I'm looking for a white runner with a purple pattern too! That or burlap. Good luck.
Cute! I bet this is easy and looks nice! I means so much more when you make it yourself too!

So, you guys may have seen my thread about my not necessarily ugly chairs, just the fact that they don't go with anything else here. And I've decided you guys are right, the chairs actually aren't ugly, instead I need to add some white to my tables other then just the chair. I think a great way to do that would be with a table runner that is primarily white but has a dark purple design on it. Well I've been searching and not coming up with anything. I like table runners like these:
I just wish that design was purple and the runner itself was pure white. Well, I'm a very "if you can't find it, make it" kind of bride, so that is now my plan.
I have an etsy seller drafting a few stencils that I'm now planning to buy cheapo table runners and then paint on a design like the one in the picture above in purple.
Obviously I'll do a test run before I go buying 20 table runners, and if it doesn't work I'll just count my losses on the stencils I got made and try to figure out a way to use it around the house or something.
But what I want to know is do you guys think this is crazy?
Comments/suggestions/better and or cheaper tables runners are much appreciated!!!
