So being my clumsy self, I managed to chip the ring box I was about to propose with. It’s a dark red-ish wood color with a clear coating, and the chip is at the front edges that shows the lighter wood underneath and notched coating. Not terribly noticable, but enough to get me thinking about looking for a possible replacement. Then I stumbled on the Ring Box Company: http://www.ringboxcompany.com/engagement-ring-box
I never thought of personalizing the box before. It adds a sentimental touch on it, and I can put our names, the proposal date and a small message. The dark wood with aluminum looks very nice, but I realized that it’s $100. I’m all for using sustainable wood and paying a little extra for quality products, but it does seem a little high for something I’m not sure she’ll ever use again. I know many bee’s have gorgeous rings costing anywhere from $100+, but in my case the box is a small purchase compared to the ring.
So I’d like to know, the high cost put aside, would you appreciate a personalized, quality ring box? Or is it something that’s completely unnecessary and I’d be better off buying flowers randomly 2-3 times.

@plantobee: I think it’s really unecessary. My ring hasn’t seen my ring box since I have been engaged.

That box is lovely but I’m sure your SO would love just getting the ring itself. You can always buy another box later.

I think it’s a sweet idea but not worth the money. You’re better off writing in the box yourself I’d think.

@plantobee: I would love it. I use my ringbox daily – FH forbids me wearing my ring in the shower, so I dutifully put it in the box every morning. If I had something as gorgeous as that, even if I didn’t use it, you can bet that I’d have it on my dresser/dressing table and I’d be showing everyone how thoughful my FH is. It also makes a nice keepsake to hand down with the ring.

Sweet idea, but that’s WAY too much money for what it is.

@plantobee: I love the idea, but don’t think the price is worth it. I just did a search on etsy and came up with SO many personalized ring boxes in the $25 range. Still sweet and sentimental, nicer on the wallet 🙂

since it’s so expensive, I vote no. I only use my engagement ring box to store other rings in.
there are a lot of bees who take their rings off every night, and would like a box to put them in. my rings go on a hook in my bathroom, it’s way more convenient for me. some people don’t take their rings off at all.
but it might be better to wait and see what her own habits will be with her ring before buying a $100 box for it. it could be a good holiday or birthday gift for later.

I would have loved something like this, personally. It is such a sweet touch and I have kept the box my husband proposed to me with just for sentimentality. I think she would love it. (although you can probably find a nicer one for less money IMO)

I think it’s sweet. I wouldn’t buy one or spend that much on a ring box, but I can see how it would appeal to someone enough to get one.

I think it is a nice idea, and it will be a nice sentimental piece. I keep the box that my ering came in by my bedside, as I take off my rings before bed, and keep another box in the cabinet by the kitchen sink so I have somewhere to put my rings while I am cooking messy stuff. So I would definitely use something like this. But I agree with PP, $100 is too much – plenty of options on Etsy for $25-30.

@plantobee: I’ll ditto others – I love the idea, and I would love the box, but I don’t love the pricetag

I would LOVE it. Such a nice souvenir of the Proposal / Engagement itself.
Now I use my Ring Box (and it is far from fancy)…
It is where my Ring resides when it isn’t on my finger. And it is the box that goes to the Bank, and my Ring lives in inside our Safety Deposit Box if we go away on a Vacation somewhere where my very sparkly ERing would attract too much attention.
So ya, I’d most definitely use and appreciate that Personalized Ring Box.
Lol, infact I may just have to get myself one of these.

@plantobee: I think it’s adorable, but $100 is way too much.

I would love the box, especially if it had the proposal words written in it. I take my ring off frequently, which I never thought I would, and I would love to have somewhere like that to keep it safe in. I don’t think that’s too much for a box like that, especially considering the sentimental value and it can be something passed down.
