All of sudden I came up with this idea that it would be such an awesome adventure to pack up and move cross country. Of course, there would be a ton of planning involoved: jobs, housing, etc.
But would you do it?
My husband and I are newly married (6 months) and we don’t have kids or are “planning” to have any soon. I think it’d be something fun and a little bit crazy that we could look back on when we’re old.
Both our families are here on the West Coast, it would be hard to be away from them becuse we are close with our families but I’m thinking for 1-2 years max!
What’s your oppions?!

If we were talking about moving from the East to West Coast most definitely, but not the other way around. I’m quite partial to my beautiful Sonoma County California weather and scenery.
Call me a stick in the mud. 🙂

We moved from Kansas to Alaska. We only had about a month or two of planning and we were gone!

@mrsbiddyf: yup. I did it. We moved from Dallas to NYC-area for husband’s job. I don’t regret moving at all….I’d been itching to live somewhere different for a while. I think we both agree that with the cost of having children here (I’m preggers now), we will probably only stay another 3 years or so. Then, we’ll think about moving again. Who knows where we’ll end up next time? =)

I would like to one day. We rent an apartment now… it’d be fun. I’d like to live up north for a year or so.

I would! You don’t want to settle where you are, get too attached, and regret not doing something like that when you were younger and moving wasn’t so complicated. You can always go back.

@mrsbiddyf: we did it and it was the best decision of our lives!

We moved from Georgia to Northern CA nearly 5 years ago now & I’ve never regretted a minute of it! I do miss my family sometimes but we try to go back & visit once a year… Go wherever your hearts lead you!

I’ve done it twice. All my family lives across the country from me, and it doesn’t bother me. I’m close to my family too. I talk to my mom everyday and fly home 2-3 times a year. I would actually like to move again, but I’m a lawyer so I can’t without taking another bar exam and I don’t want to do that. haha.

I moved halfway across the country– form Virginia to Chicago! I had about 2 months notice, but moved all by myself to a big city where I only knew one other person. It was stressful but has also been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made… six and a half years later, I’m still here and just married the love of my life!

I’m moving across an ocean once I get married in order to live with my SO, so yeah, moving cross-country is no biggie compared to that. Haha. I definitely would when young and childless.

Do it. We moved to a different continent! Make sure at least one of you has a job first though.

We moved from LA to NYC. We’re happy with our decision and we know we can always move back if we’re unhappy

I would only do it if you actually wanted to be in that area for a while, though. Otherwise the hassle of moving, finding new jobs, finding new friends, etc etc for just a year or two wouldn’t be worth it.
If you want to shake it up, do some traveling!
