It depends what the dress looks like. I've had a simple black dress for like 8 years now and I still wear it all the time.
@fallprincess13: what's awkward about it? Is it something that went out of style 15 years ago? Otherwise, she probably thinks it still looks nice and in style, so I'd be sort of flattered that I picked something that long ago that people still like!
I'd be totally fine with it! If I still have it, it means I still wear it! One less thing for me to buy.
I think I would be happy that I wouldn't have to spend money on a dress that I wouldn't wear. The bride must know what she likes and is trying to make it easier.
I would be happy, depending on the condition of the dress. If it's starting to look old and faded, I might want to buy something new.
I'd be happy I didn't have to buy a new dress (as long as the dress she wanted me to wear still fit and was in good shape).
Ditto PPs, I'd be amped to wear a dress already hanging in my closet. That means I picked it out for myself, therefore I like it and look good in it, rather than wearing something someone else selected for me.
Assuming I like the dress since I bought it for myself....I don't see a problem with it.
I would appreciate not having to spend money on a new dress.

I'm always psyched to get more wear out of a dress I already have! (Heck, I wore the same dress to all three proms I went to, I loved it so much!)

how would you feel if the bride asked you to wear a dress you had had for years as a bridesmaid? i feel really akward about it
