Lmizzle:  My birthday is on 9/11. I still celebrate every year. I see no reason why it would be a bad idea. I say go for it.

Unless you or FI lost someone in 9/11 such that that day is annually a personal time of mourning for you, I don’t see why 9/12 would be a bad or hard day to get married on.

Unless your family was directly affected by 9/11 and you lost someone close to you I wouldn’t really worry about it. Maybe take a moment of silence at your rehersal as a sign of respect?

That day needs as many good vibes as it can get- unless your family was directly affected go for it.

I mean…unless someone in your family/circle of friends was directly affected by that day, I don’t see why it would be an issue? Especially not the day after. I mean, people do things on Pearl Harbor Day and on the anniversary of Katrina. If it’s something you feel you need to be reverent about, maybe y’all could do a moment of silence or something. Otherwise, I’d say carry on.

Something terrible has happened on every day of the year at some point in history.  There have been mulitple battles fought on my wedding day over time with thousands of people killed, not going to stop me from getting married.  I realize 9/11 is a much more recent event, but I still don’t think everyone should go into mourning every year at that time and should just be able to live their lives as usual.

TheOkieWifey:  My husband’s bday is too! It was a horrible day one time, not every single year for the rest of time. I would get married on the day that works best.

I thnk as long as no one in your party was directly affected and has a “memorial tradition” they do each year, I wouldnt think twice about it. There are a lot of days where something horrendus has happened, this one is just quite fresh in our minds still.

I know a bride whose husband is a firefighter. They had their wedding on 9/11 either the year after it happened or close to it, and it worked for them bc they had like a firefighter theme and they got the date super cheap w/ the venue.

Like other pps have said, unless you or close family has lost someone in the 9/11 tragedy, I don’t think anyone will think twice about it.

Nothing happened on September 12th.  I don’t get the issue!

I’m due Sept 12th and I’m stoked, initially it was Sept 11th but I realized my LMP date was wrong by a day. Even if I was I wouldn’t care!

If I had to pick Sept 12th I would most definitely, this is coming from someone who remembers all too well about Sept 11th, living in New York being in school in 10th grade…it was horrible.

As a New Yorker who has two family members who were affected by 9/11 (both survived) and knew tons of other people with family affected, a 9/12 wedding date would not bother me at all.  People go on with their livesand I’m sure something terrible has happened on every single day of the year.
