Heck Yes! I would have to have Randy pick out my dress but I would totally love for the Guy from the Atlanta show to "Jack me up"
I would... I actually applied but never heard back. I guess I'm just not interesting enough. LOL I would love to have Randy pick out my dress. I hope they pick you. Just remember not everyone who shops there get's to be on the show. Do you know if they are taping it when you go?
I'm old. What's a baller?
I considered applying but procrastinated on the application. They were actually filming the day we went, but for Big Bliss. :)
No, I don't think so.
While I love SYTTD (NY, not Atlanta), I wouldn't want to be typecast as "the Canadian" or "the picky one".
But if you're not as picky as I am, I'd say go for it.
@tksjewelry:ITA!!! =) Couldnt have said it better! I'd go just to meet Randy and have him pick a gown for me!
@tksjewelry: LOL! I just watched my first episode of the Atlanta one this weekend - I made my fiance come over and see "the Soutehrn Randy!"
@luvmyDwight: Oh boo, I bet you are plenty interesting! And I have no idea if they will be, but I feel like they love the drama that comes with the fast paced sample say days, as I've seen a few such episodes. If I don't end up on, I am totally okay with that, but I'm just not sure if I want to apply yet lol.
@techie: I am SUCH a procrastinator, so this question might end up resolving itself in the same way for me.
@Ivorybuttons: LOL, are you kidding? I'm picky (not ridiculously so, but I do know what I do not like and will not bend on), and I have a budget I'm sure will be scoffed at ($2000). I can already hear the comments lol
@CupCakeMeg: He's just great, even if he ignores his own advice sometimes (esp. the bit about never bringing a bride a dress over her budget lol)
@techie: OMG, it would! DO IT!
Well, I have good news for you - you don't have to go on SYTTD to meet Randy. I went to a sample sale at Kleinfeld last summer and he was just walking around like normal. Even took a picture with him.
To answer your question, I would totally go on SYTTD - I even applied but they never called me. The application was super long (3 essay type questions) and they say you need some special/crazy story that sets you apart, and that'll help you get on the show.
I shopped at Kleinfeld and saw Randy, but no, I wouldn't go on SYTTD. It's just not my thing. I think I probably would have been really boring, too. I was a good sport and tried on everything my consultant pulled, but out of 12+ dresses, I only liked two of them. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I wasn't going to budge. Boring! Also, I only brought one friend, and our appointment was the epitome of quiet. Definitely nothing crazy, special, or even really interesting about my dress journey!
I dont think I would- I hate public speaking so I think I would be very camera shy
BTW do you get extra discounts if you appear on the show? or do you do it for free?
I would do it, just because when else would I ever get to be on TV? I doubt I'd ever get on though, I'm not a good TV personality
@hardtoconcentrate: So jealous! How fun to have a photo with him!
@sarahbabs: If i was a baller, then I'd totally go on the show. I don't know that little midwest law school gal on a mini-budget is a good sell. If I could throw on those 10K+ gowns, I'd be all over playing dress-up on TV with Randy :-)
The joke is that FMIL is going to try to get FI and I on all of these wedding shows, since apparently we don't seem to care all that much and have no idea what to do.
She also wants to take me dress shopping at Kleinfeld's, but we have vastly different tastes...
I tried on some dresses at Kleinfelds and met Randy! It was fun to have him doting on me for an hour. My fiance was kind of obssessed with him by the end of the appointment. LoL!
Unfortunately, they didn't have a couple of the dresses I wanted to try on, so I didn't buy anything yet.. but who knows.. maybe I'll go back.
That being said.. I would NOT go on the show. I know me, and I know my family.. they would make me look like a spoiled brat. No thanks!
@luvmyDwight: Someone who's got mega $$, for no apparent reason. Urban dictionary has all sorts of hilarious definitions. But since I'm not a thug or a ball player, I like definition #3 sub 2. LOL.
No, I wouldnt want to branded and put into some category like "the bitchy one" or "indecisive" or "cheap" haha. Also, all of their dresses are way way out of my budget, my max was $1000 on my dress and I spent $999.
@luvmyDwight: I am 23 and didn't know what the hell baller meant. I used to live in the "hood" too. Hahahahaha.
SYTTD is the ONLY show I would be on, ever. Its harmless to me...I wouldn't be on $ weddings, bridezillas, or any other show, wedding related or not. I wanted to go to NY with my friends and have the Kleinfeld's experience, but the trip up, back, and staying in NYC would have exhausted my entire dress budget.
BOO FOR LIVING IN AN UNFASHIONABLE AREA! Dress shopping was hard, it would have been so easy in NY!
@hardtoconcentrate: Well if I can see Randy anyways, that settles it! :)
I do have a story that is more than dramatic enough to get their attention, but I just don't feel comfortable sharing that on a wedding show, especially as it is not factoring into my dress search at all.
@mikaella.bride: @Candace From BC: They do not give discounts or anything like that! Just for the sake of being on TV, which I don't really care about.
@luvmyDwight: @MissPumpkinPie: LOL, I thought "baller" was relatively common parlance :)
Part of me thinks it would be fun. Another part of me would worry that they would "type cast" me into a crazy role, even if I didn't actually fit that role, just to fit with an episode style. Haha. Once it's out on TV, you can't take it back!
I you do go to Kleinfelds, ask for their trunk show discount. I didn't even have to ask and they offered me 12.5% off. If I go back, I'm definitely going to take them up on that offer!
No, no, no. I HATE in front of the camera work, plus I suspect we would not be able to agree on the depiction release terms.
But, I do love the show and if a friend was on it I would definitely be a cheerleader.
@luvmyDwight: someone with a lot of money.. someone who spends a lot of money is ballin :D hehe
I went shopping at Kleinfeld's with my girlfriends about a year ago, right after I got engaged. I applied to be on the show but didn't get picked- I have no drama! In hindsight, it probably would have been overwhelming and I would've hated seeing myself on film. I DID see an entourage being filmed when I was there- these ladies were made up to high heaven and there were at least 10 people in her group...it all just seemed really high maintenance and that's not really my thing...
the store is much smaller than it looks on the show! And I was sorta disappointed with the dresses I saw- I went around the whole floor and didn't see much I liked. Well, except the $30,000 Pnina dress that my associate was a little too excited to show me. :)
I love that show but I would never go on it! It was difficult enough to try on dresses with my Mum, sisters, and best friend this past weekend!
I went on an appt there and they were filming. I think I may end up in the background. I personally wouldn't want to be filmed on TV, it's a personal moment that I wouldn't want shared w others. Thats just me though.
I'm too shy for television! Although if I got a free dress out of it... maybe!
If I was shopping at Kleinfelds already, then yes I would do the show...and if I had a large dress budget!
And I agree with the others, I'd definitely want Randy to help!
I would love to be on the show! They would never pick me though because 1) I could never afford one of their dresses and 2) I'm rather boring. Oh well, I will have to just stick with watching the show.
No way. As much as I love watching that show I don't want to share my dress experience with the world. And there won't be any interesting drama. I'm not a picky girl when it comes to shopping nor do I have any pushy friends or relatives. I only plan on having my FMIL and my BFF with me anyway. I don't see the appeal of having a football team with me :)

My fiance and I recently got our first place together, and now I have cable for the first time in my life! (Growing up, I didn't even usually have a tv). Now I am totally addicted, particularly to Say Yes to the Dress. So when I found out Kleinfeld's is having a by-appointment sample sale in January, I instantly made an appointment. Now I am trying to decide if I want to be on SYTTD. I think it would be fun (and likely increase my chances of meeting the venerable Randy hehe), but I just don't know.
Out of curiosity, would you go on SYTTD if you were shopping at Kleinfelds? I'd love to hear your reasons too, either way!
